Peach State says: Do A Little Thanksgiving Dance

The menu is prepared and casseroles prepared. Only one question this year…”Mom, how many pumpkin pies are you making?” So back to the store for more ingredients so my military son can have his pumpkin pie!

This dance is contagious! Happy Thanksgiving and don’t forget to Do A Little Thanksgiving Dance!

Peach State says: Facebook Funnies Turkey Leftovers

Pandora is playing Seasonal Classics through the lower level of the house thanks, in part, to Bluetooth technological-capabilities my talent of pushing all of the right buttons! I am waiting for my youngest to crawl from his warm bed before taking the fall decorations down. Christmas will be assembled and placed throughout the house later…so while I wait I will share some of the Facebook Funnies Turkey Leftovers!

Let’s start with a definite winner…Blog Worthy Award Winner #1:

Now that is a mom using her experience to help others!

Family discussions around the table can be very lively…or just a repeat of the previous year!

Yes…reading it quietly to yourself qualifies as a prayer!

How about some snickers from the Animal Kingdom…:

Quickly moving along..

Just a question…”The last time you said “Houston…we have _____!” did you ever get a response…yep, me either!

“Hey…Is that my sweater?”

Remind You of Anyone Award:

Put your hands down!

How many of you are still in your PJ’s? All I have to say is it morning somewhere…right?

Hehe…Haha…Hehe! ( breath)

Well…don’t hurt yourself on my account!

How about some Christmas Funnies:

Okay that will be quite enough!

And last but not least…The Straight-Jacket Award Winner:

Don’t think about this or you could end up in a Straight-Jacket…hehe!

Share some humor and give a smile…

Peach State says: My First Christmas Decoration!

I know I told you that I will not decorate until the day after Thanksgiving…my hubby offered and I was not going to refuse!

My First Christmas Decoration!

We finally succeeded in locating a parking place, at one of the local home improvement stores, and walked across the parking lot toward the welcoming front doors. The stiff northern wind was whipping viciously around adding to the already chilled day. My hubby paused to look at the sale they had on non-Christmas-type trees and then turned and headed to the door. We passed a display with small pine trees shaped like the picture above and there, mixed in with the pine, was a Rosemary Bush with all the festive scent a girl could want! “I do love Rosemary!”

I have some precious ideas to decorate this table-top-tree but that will have to wait until after Thanksgiving. No if’s, and’s or but’s about that! I felt a little bad about breaking my rule…but then I found a solution.

Rosemary is a Herb and Herbs belong in the kitchen!. “Right?”

Where there is a will there is a way!”

Peach State says: Goodbye to Another Season

Bring on the festivities and hang the decorations!

Goodbye to Another Season!

Wait! Why are we rushed to decorate for Christmas ( I will not say the holiday…it’s too soon!) before Thanksgiving? I want to enjoy my rustic-colored-leaves and ribbons with my non-jack-o-lantern-faced pumpkins scattered around. Mr. & Mrs. Scarecrow stand guard next to a harvested bushel of wheat and pumpkins…on my accent table. ( they are so cute and small!). The Harvest table runner, draped over the chair, is ready to occupy the dinning room table. The only red and green showing are in the apples on the counter and the green and red tones already placed on the walls.

Can’t we enjoy this time of year before jumping to the next one!

There is a lot of preparation that still needs to be completed. After all…the Holiday Season is not complete much less in full swing until you have baked more pies, than a family could possibly eat, and have the scent-of-Turkey wafting throughout the house. “Can I get an AMEN?”

Okay…I am stepping off my soapbox! There is just an order that must be followed and the fact that decorations are already… “Oops! My bad!”

Last night we saw another type of season end…It was the last basketball game for my youngest. It was a tight game and at the buzzer the score was 49-50! There were some great shots and not so great shots…but that is what the game is all about! My 20 year old, once again, was the referee for the youngest team last night. There was one little player who began to get upset when he missed every shot. As the game was ending the young boy was suddenly swept up and held over the goal. SWOOSH! “I dunked it!” He said, with the biggest grin spread over his face. He turned around and saw my 20 year old had picked him up to score! Oh the rules that get broken when you’re little! Those kids love my 20 year old and he enjoys that age group…
Monday night we will head back to the gym/church for Awards Night!

So here I go…on to the next task at hand…getting my house ready for THANKSGIVING! Planning the meal and baking the pies…I guess I better make a list! This will be a unique Holiday Season for our little family with the absence of family members but, I will stop there before I can no longer see the keyboard to type. I will close with one more thought as I sip the last of my “morning brew”

Oh, and welcome to November!

“May your cup runneth over with joy, love and laughter oh, and really fabulous coffee!”

Peach State says: Friendly Facebook Funnies

Creative juices just stalled due to lack of Internet connection…I am hoping this will load and save…maybe publish! Have a Humor filled day!

Peach State says: I Got This!

The art of thawing a turkey I learned from a necessity to Pre-plan, Pre-pare, Pre-clean, Pre-schedule…yep! I have an issue with organization, but you know this about me and still accept and love me. So with the fridge cleaned out, in preparation of the needed space, I placed the the turkey in last night. ( For those of you getting ready to shake those proverbial fingers at me for lifting and carrying heavy items…please set you hearts at ease…I delegated the placing of the turkey to my son.) I have taken precautions this year…it will be okay… “I Got This!”

This is a 15 pound turkey…Do I have time to thaw it in the fridge? Well…

I have overnight, today and tomorrow and it will be ready for a lovely Butter-Basting Thanksgiving morning. “Now this is one of my favorite memories…my mother would get up early and start the turkey so that by about 8 am we were awakened to a mixture of cinnamon rolls and Turkey. This also meant time for the chopping, slicing, mixing…I don’t know how she did it all the same day.”
Pre-planning…I will prepare several things tomorrow and place them in the fridge and then put the final touches on them Thursday. After all I want to watch some of the parades and not be chained to the kitchen. Organization down to a science…Yep! “I Got This

That memory I just mentioned reminded me to put cinnamon rolls on the grocery list. That is what I am doing today…shopping! Check back tomorrow and I will give you the menu! For now I will gather my supplies and extra hands ( coupons, store advertisements and one or more of my sons)…see I told you “I Got This!”

Have a great day!

Peach State says: Getting Ready For Thanksgiving!

Tis the week…rearranging the refrigerator to hold the many supplies I will need to make Thanksgiving Dinner. Okay…so maybe not that many but what items I do have will make a couple of casseroles and I need room. Decorations are being set out ( specific for Thanksgiving) and by Thursday night…will be gone. But that is for another discussion!

School is out and step by step things will be accomplished…cutting, measuring, baking…you get the idea!

It is the little things I love to do…When Getting Ready For Thanksgiving!
So off I go on another quest and chore. I know you are busy too…Have a great day!

Peach State says: Tree of Thanksgiving!

Decided to try something different this year!

With everything going crazy with work schedules the common-everyday-routines-and-take-it-for-granted mentality I wanted to cause my family to think. Think about what is important in our lives and the things we should remember to be thankful for. This year I added this simple decoration….Tree of Thanksgiving!

I am hoping to cause enough of a stir, with this simple twig, and get my family to think for a moment.
And during that short-split-second-pause will plant a seed of thankfulness…of course I also expect some laughter and “What is a tree branch doing in my house?”

It is easy…
Find a branch…that was easy after all the wind we have had.

Cut out some colorful leaves…

Write different reasons to be thankful and attach to the branch.
Place in a weighted vase or container.

I am hoping the family will add their own reasons to be thankful but you have to remember I have 3 grown boys who will not think it is cool and a twelve year old that will sneak a tree limb into his room and try to decorate it for himself. But a mother can dream! I may have to take this to the next level next time but for now this will do. What do you think?
Have you done something like this before? Let me know!

Have a great day!

Peach State says: And So It Begins…

It’s Monday…the beginning of a new week and the first Monday in a new Month. Not just any month but, November! “So much to do and so little time!” These are the days when people start their “Holiday Rush” and the many countdowns take the place of “OMG…It’s Monday” complaints.

And So It Begins…

I have already begun my various forms of count-downs for the various activities. “I love the feeling of accomplishment and finding shortcuts to completion of my many lists!” But… my health does throw a Proverbial Wrench into the works this year.

Sooo…I conquer what I can before it needs to be done and find room for the “extra-out-of-the-ordinary-must-be-done” items placed on my To-Do lists! (case in point…) The Presidential Election…I, along with my hubby, went to vote this past Wednesday. With his schedule and the hour long commute there was no way he could cast his vote tomorrow. [That is one giant check mark by an item on my list!] School is out tomorrow and I will have plenty of help, hopefully, around the house as I begin my Pre-holiday clean. I will be able to follow the Election Coverage as I check other items off my list. I was thrilled to find an invitation, of sorts, to an exclusive hair salon addressed to me in the mail Saturday. It is for a FREE haircut, hair style and color! “Goody…Goody!” If I plan it right I could have a new hairstyle for the holidays. Calendar in hand…I will carefully navigate the already set-in-stone commitments and book the appointment. “It sounds like a Me-day!” That is just what the doctor ordered…well not in so many words but…with the increase of medical appointments mixed in with the standard everyday events I sure do like the sound of an almost “Spa Day”…wouldn’t you?

My day is in full swing now with the exiting of my hubby and my youngest. I will finish my chat with you as I finish my coffee and pull out my calendar of event and checklist. “I wonder if I spend to much time and energy on planning?” (insert silent giggle)

Have a great day!
