It’s My 6 Shot Morning!

IMG_5944My doctor asked me the other day, as my stomach growled like a roaring lion, what I had for breakfast.  A smile crept across my face and I said…”I had my usual!” I continued…”It’s My 6 Shot Morning!

I have to admit I truly love watching the different facial expressions I often get in response to that statement.  😳😡🤔😤💀🙀🙉🙊🙈

“Sorry for the multiple emojis.  I like pushing buttons!”

After I explained what I meant and my doctor was breathing again the laughter began! She was afraid I was driving while intoxicated!  I know it had to have been 5 o’clock somewhere but not in my little corner of the world.  My quaintquietquackyquirky little world is filled with arobicized activities along with the normalrunofthemill life of a mother!  I love the extra bowling pins added to my juggling routine.  The occasional diaper change and feeding, the extra taxi duties for my son and two of his friends to track practice. Oh, and the virtual treadmill of track meets!  Ah..the life of a track mom! But that’s another story for another day!

My doctor understood my need for the 6 Shot Morning…she prescribed a pill to help me sleep at night!  I left her office and headed back toward the old homestead…doing my varied errands on the way…including my drive through at the Starbucks across the street for another 4!!!  “Shh!!! What she doesn’t know won’t hurt her!”

“May your cup runneth over with love, laughter and really fabulous coffee!”

Peach State says: Oh The Places We Can Go!

The time has come to begin our downsizing! With the three older sons out and about…hubby has decided now is the time to buy another home!

“Oh The Places We Can Go!”

Trying to meld all of our wants and desires into one home has been an event-planners-nightmare BUT…I MAY HAVE ACTUALLY FOUND ONE TODAY!
The one pictured above is not it…seeings how a model is only available.

This will be an adventure for the both of us as this home will be built to our specsifications. “OOO…maybe I can get a screened porch!” Master on the main is a must as well as fireplace. Room for visiting children ( VISITING) and/ or entertaining is a must! They have plans including a basement that run a bit more than hubby wants but he may change his mind!

All in all a great day! Walking around empty1newly-constructed homes, with a dear friend playing body guard, was a lot of fun!

Back to reality:Now it is time to get ready for the youngest to get home from school and rush off to his doctor appointment. After that…maybe a trio to Walmar-Che’. [translation: southern term for Walmart]

I will keep you posted about the house hunting!

I better have time to swing by Starbucks on the way to the doctor.

“May your cup runneth over with joy, love and laughter oh, and really fabulous coffee!”

As Forest Gump always said…“That’s All I Have To Say About That!”

The normal routine was dashed against the side of the cliff this morning! At least my Starbucks was at my side!

“May your cup runneth over with joy, love and laughter oh, and really fabulous coffee!”

Peach State says: Sharing “The Grump”…Good or Bad?

So this was posted on my Facebook today and I had a thought!

“Sharing “The Grump”…Good or Bad?”

“Well…is that coffee big enough to share? And if you share grumpy does that make you less grumpy?”

Let me consider the concept while I finish my coffee!

“May your cup runneth over with joy, love and laughter oh, and really fabulous coffee!”

Peach State says: Friends Don’t Let Friends Eat The Whole Piece Of Cake

So there we were…

“Mutual Cat Loving Friend” and I managed to follow our third Sunday schedule, with just a couple of kinks thrown in, and still find time to head to our favorite michevious-giggle-filled-caffeine-loaded-coffee-scented hangout…otherwise known as Starbucks. I had a FREE food purchase on my card and offered to share. I said, “You must understand that this means less calories for both of us…and that is a good thing…right?” This is the response I got from “Mutual Cat Loving Friend”…

“Friends Don’t Let Friends Eat The Whole Piece Of Cake!”

We giggled together and then decided it would make a great blog title…and decided to share a cranberry loaded Oatmeal Cookie. So this was just for you “Mutual Cat Loving Friend”!

We enjoyed our time a little too much before I realized that I was late for one of those kinks. (A meeting with the Pastor’s wife about VBS) This meeting went longer than normal and I had to excuse myself, once again, to rush to an earlier than normal sound check. Three major events squeezed into a period of 2, very short, hours. I must say that this was not a typical Sunday as it started with my 20 year old jumping out of a plane from 15,000 ft. …but that is another story!

Today I have done most of what I need to do…with the minor exception of tonight’s basketball practice and Christmas music practice.

Yep…Just another normal day!

“May your cup runneth over with joy, love and laughter oh, and really fabulous coffee!”

Peach State says: Where’s Peach State?

So there we were…sitting in our local Starbucks after our small group finished singing yesterday. One of my dear friends and “Peas in a pod” commented on how she was not going to read my blog anymore. Let me explain!

My upcoming trip has not been publicized…I have kept it a secret from my friends just to have a bit of fun. BUT…They know me too well! “I am willing to bet there will be a Starbucks close by…you could not go that long without a Starbucks Fix! She is sooo right…”I gotta have it!” I do love my coffee or Heavenly Brew as I often refer to my daily grind. ( hehe…I just couldn’t resist! )

SO… In true “Where’s Waldo” style I have decided to give a few hints!

(Hint #1) I don’t like dark green! Well except on the Starbucks logo on my cup!
The darker the color green the more Starbucks available.

(Hint #2) I know for a fact that there are four not shown on this map…“C”!
That hint will either give it away or totally confuse her!

(Hint #3) The Starbucks are within driving distance…and NO! They are not in Atlanta!

I guess I will have to insert a certain tourist spot into my pictures. Until then I will continue the countdown of days to this historic trip!

Countdown:(not counting today)
6 days till Hubby and I leave for vacation
6 days till my youngest leaves for his Youth Trip
5 days until I pack the car
4 days till my haircut
2 days till school is out for the summer
1 day until I get my pedicure…stop laughing…”A girl has got to have pretty toes on vacation”
And last but not least…tonight is when my hubby will “lay down the law” to the three older boys about their staying home and how to treat each other. “That will be a long conversation!”

My mind has been working overtime on blogs during my vacation. I can’t wait to share with you all the sights and sounds.

Have a great day!

Peach State says: The Christmas Hug!

Yesterday was the third Sunday of the month…which means several things. I have told you about my group of friends and the trouble delightful circumstances surrounding our friendship.
Every 3rd Sunday my friends and I, em>Peas in a Pod, sing at a local Retirement Facility. The faces of the regulars light up as we walk in and mingle. We sing, interact with them and wish them well. But…yesterday was special…The Senior Adult Choir, from our church, presented their Christmas program. The “Peas” + 4 of the males from the regular choir joined in with Senior Adult Choir offering moral support. This is one of the best Senior Choirs I have ever heard and what a joy they are to be around. They misbehave almost as much as we do in the regular Adult Choir. As our excited and active Minister of Music finished speaking we began to gather the hymn books, used for the sing-along carols, and began saying goodbye.

You can’t just say goodbye! “Actions speak louder than words!” I always try to give a hug or personal touch when leaving…but…yesterday was different! These hugs were filled with grateful thanks and warm wishes for a wonderful Christmas. More interaction, stinging of the eyes, increase in heartbeats… These hugs were “The Christmas Hug!”

We were recipients of blessings and love filled thanks. A new comer from my old church recognized me and said she could not wait to tell her friends she heard me sing. To put it mildly…she was thrilled to know I was still singing and could not wait to hear me again. I really wanted to stay longer but, as I said earlier, yesterday was different. The Senior Adult Choir was scheduled to sing at a Nursing Home about 20 minutes away an hour later…so the Peas headed to our quaint-out of way-off the beaten track-coffee junkie-routine gathering place. ( Starbucks! ) With only a short time to spare we used every minute…laughing and celebrating our time together. The swapping of gifts made an appearance and appreciation of the season as we sat around the square table. Time checked and off we went…

It was dinner time and the dining room was filled with wheel-chairs and walkers. Elderly people with little or no light in their eyes sat in silent groups of three or four. Passing interaction, with those sitting long the route, as I and my friends went to where the Senior Adult Choir was gathering.

There were three gentlemen seated at three individual tables behind us as we sang. I turned several times to offer a face with the music instead of my backside.
After we finished singing I turned to give “The Christmas Hug” and was surprised to see tears in the eyes of one of the men. He returned the hug and told of his appreciation in my turning around. He is going deaf and has learned to read lips. He said “With the words I could read and the smile in your eyes my heart was filled.” Whose eyes had tears in them now?

One of the nurses asked our Minister of Music if we could sing to those in the locked ward. “These are those elderly who cannot feed themselves or need special assistance beyond regular Nursing Home standards.” Our group walked the corridors and into the Locked Ward and gathered to sing. The blank faces stared off into the unknown spaces…devoid of recognition that we were there. As we began to sing a table of three ladies and one man came to life. One by one each person joined in as much as they could. They hit the table, clapped along, sang along (even if it was a different song) and smiled. We finished the first song and the electricity I felt was so stirring. As we prepared to leave I circulated once again to pass along my simple Christmas wishes. I heard similar wishes and “Don’t go!, I want to sing more, I will sing louder, and…Thank you!

All this time I thought I was giving them “The Christmas Hug” and in reality they were giving “The Christmas Hug” to me. What a gift! I cannot tell you how much it meant to this struggling and humble wife and mother. I have to realize that we all need to give…

Love is not love till it’s given away!

These sweet souls want so much to give and all they ask is for a smile and a hug. I can do that…can’t you? Give a smile away and share “The Christmas Hug“… The gift you share will come back to you in ways you will never expect. Have a great day!

Peach State says: A Great Day With Friends!

What a day!
It started about 8:40 yesterday morning and ended last night about 8:30!
We, however, did go home after the first service but gathered back together 2 1/2 hours later.
Sound checks, singing, quiet whispers during the service….oh and the Candy Buffet!. (The “Candy Buffet” is a term a dear friend came up with as the cough drops, mints and gum circulated the row where we were seated.)

All in all it was a wonderful day…A Great Day With Friends! We all flowed in and out of the church membership during the fellowship after church last night. Sometimes together and sometimes individually. Yet somehow…we all ended up sitting next to each other. “What a cute gathering of the “Peas in a Pod”!” I am truly blessed to be a part of such a great group. ..but all good things must come to an end. As I walked out to the parking lot last night with “Our Mutual Cat Loving Friend” and her husband we had a realization!

Tomorrow…We giggled thinking that we would be back at the church in less than 24 hours for basketball practice. Who knows…we may come up with some more wonderful “blog titles”. We have a great time together and to be honest…we speak “blog titles“!

Sadly yesterday did not include one of our favorite thing. We were unable to sit and visit at our local hangout. (Starbucks) Due to the schedule and two of our little group moving into a new home this laughter filled session will have to be postponed until next month. (You know who you are…and you realize your commitment to this activity…set the date now!).

The above picture is one I made of our little group. I had each of my friends in mind as I chose the pictures and interestingly enough…they knew which one was theirs.

I wish each of them a fantastic day and all the coffee they can drink!

Have a great day!
