There is nothing wrong with a little experimentation in cooking…it leads to great recipes and opens the floods gates to creativity. A little bit of this and a dash of that, stir in a pinch or two of these spices and “BAM!” a new recipe is formed. The above pictured item is one of my new favorite items for my kitchen. It is a Manual Food Processor from Pampered Chef! No plugs and incredibly easy to use…even my boys use it. One evening I was planning dinner and wanted something different. My youngest was just sitting there watching a movie…so I, being the mom I am, said Bored? Dinner Time Experimentation!. He perked up when he hear experimentation. “Don’t all boys?”
We headed to the kitchen and I began pulling things out onto the counter…including my Manual Food Processor. I will now give you the recipe for a great side-dish.
Layered Broccoli and Potato Quiche’
2 Cups of broccoli florets
1/2 of large onion
3-4 eggs (I used 3) mixed with a touch of milk
1 cup of grated cheese
6 slices of cooked bacon ( I used a lower sodium bacon)
5 diced potatoes
I started the preparation by dicing 5 potatoes and cooking the bacon. I then began cutting the broccoli into smaller pieces to place in the Manual Food Processor with the onion. (the onion should be in about 4-5 pieces) and chop until desired blending is acquired.
I placed it into the microwave and cooked it for about 12 minutes…or until the potatoes were done. I grated a little more cheese on top for color and served with Chicken. It was a hit! “I think I will use this recipe in our church’s cookbook.”
I have made my fresh Spaghetti Sauce and some Salsa with this marvelous kitchen wonder along with chopping some ice cream toppings. My boys love using it for the ice cream toppings! We had fun and my youngest has been asking to use it again…”I think we will experiment some today!”

I did not forget about writing this morning…I was just a little preoccupied with cleaning for a Pampered Chef Party. The funny thing is…the house was clean Friday and ready. Sometime between Friday and last night there was an explosion of dirty dishes, dust, clothes and unexplained collections of debris. That was only the beginning.
Yesterday I dropped off a prescription and my son said he could pick it up for me. I told him the pharmacy closed at 6pm…sooo…he left the house about 6pm to pick it up! I had to pick it up is morning and then take a pill to my youngest at school. “Wasn’t that a fun way to spend 25 minutes?” I was driving into the school parking lot when a scary thought penetrated my overloaded brain. “Food…what was I going to serve? Oh No! I forgot to get the ingredients for the Pampered Chef Consultant to demo!” So the rush was on…and I still needed to complete the spit shine cleaning. I pulled up the recipe on my phone and darted through the store…completing my mission I raced home. I pre-heated the oven…and vacuumed the remaining floors, then I turned to lighting the candles for atmosphere. The doorbell rang…and all that I had left was the dusting of one table. I was thrilled and ahead of schedule. The food was laid out and my special little plates were laid out for my guests.
I am able to rest…there is nothing left for me to do…dishes are all clean, floors are clean…I am tired!
WAIT! I need to fix dinner!

BBQ Chicken Pizza
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 small skinless, boneless chicken breast half
1/2 cup plus 2 Tbsp. barbecue sauce
1 (11-inch) pizza crust (14 oz. package)
1/2 cup grated smoked Gouda
1/2 cup grated mozzarella
3 tablespoons sliced red onion
2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
Warm oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chicken and cook, turning once, 5 to 6 minutes per side, until just cooked through. Transfer to a cutting board. When cool enough to handle, cut into 1/2-inch cubes. Toss chicken with 2 Tbsp. barbecue sauce in a bowl.
Position a rack in bottom of oven and preheat to 450°F. Place pizza crust on a large baking sheet and spread with remaining 1/2 cup barbecue sauce. Sprinkle with half of both cheeses, arrange chicken on top, and then add remaining cheese and onion.
Bake until cheese is melted and golden brown, 20 minutes. Let rest for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with cilantro, cut into slices and serve hot.

I must admit my excitement about today’s activity. It has been a very long time since I participated in a home cooking party. I was invited a few weeks ago and quickly RSVP’ed. I love the gadgets and recipes but most of all I will spend my morning Visiting With Friends!
If you have ever been to a home party like this you know there is food, drawings, demonstrations and lots of giggling. The recipes are creative and offer a different presentation of family favorites.
This is a Taco Ring and is one of the standard recipes for most Cooking Type Parties.
Preparation and presentation…chop, chop, chop and slice, slice, slice. They show you the gadgets they used and how to use them…”If you want your dish to look like this you will buy this gadget!” I am also aware that some will have to buy them and others, like me, have ways of chopping and slicing already available at home.
As for the recipes…well there will be several I am sure I will want to try at home. I will make sure I pass those along to you later today!
As for the few minutes I have before getting ready to leave…Coffee! I will finish my coffee and enjoy the sound of the rain while I play a game of cards. I will then straighten up the kitchen and move the laundry before heading upstairs. “A friend is coming over to ride with me, to a mutual friend’s house, for the party and I do not want her walking in and seeing a dirty kitchen…Do I?”
