Peach State says: Halfway Through the Holidays…I Need a Nap!

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/5f4/29814716/files/2014/12/img_2155.jpg

With house full, well sort of, of Holiday Spirit and overflowing with used Kleenex, antibiotics, the companion “Quils” and Halls lozenges we want to say Merry Christmas from our house to yours.

It has been a busy month and a half and once again my military son flew home. Our son who lives 2 hours away came home to join in the festivities. I, sadly, find myself longing for routine. Any routine…I’m not picky! With everything, surrounding the move, hitting at about the same time we have not been able to settle in to a routine. Man oh man…We are only “Halfway Through the Holidays…I Need a Nap!”

Just a few more days of the Christmas decorations before they disappear for another year. And we usher in another year…

So…if I don’t make it back before New Years…”Happy New Year!!!

“May your cup runneth over with joy, love and laughter oh, and really fabulous coffee!”

Peach State says: It’s Monday…HELLO!

IMG_5869.JPG

My hubby and #2 son ventured out early yesterday, to the old house, in hopes of completing this never-ending-just-take-it-to-Goodwill-move! I got home from church and did a few things including starting the laundry…Switch the loads and started dinner…

LONG STORY SHORT…
I was almost ready to make the almost hour long trek to church, for the Ordination of a very dear friend, when the washer decided to ding! This was not the usual ding but a distinct Hey-this-is-your-washer-and-I-have-stopped-working! Hubby said he would look at it and sent in #2 son who, in turn, told the youngest to climb up on the washer and see it there was a kink in the hose. Nope! Hubby said “I will take care of it later!”

Fast-forward to this morning…”Honey, you will need to look up the problem online and see it the washer can be fixed…if not you will need to call a plumber!” ( insert giggle) “Uh, I think it would be best to call an Appliance Repair guy!” Hubby shook his head in agreement. “Here are my dirty clothes…and can you take the dry cleaning, work on the boxes in the basement!…oh and what are you planning on for dinner?”

It’s Monday…HELLO!

I know what I need to do…and it all starts with…COFFEE!

Time to get to work…oh, and get dressed just in case the appliance repair company I called can come out today!

“May your cup runneth over with Joy, love and laughter oh, and really fabulous coffee!”

Peach State says: Slow Down…It’s Not Even Halloween!

IMG_6059.JPG

School has been in session for almost two months and today is the last official day of “Fall Break”. My son and I have been watching the store shelves unfold the to be expected seasonal creepiness…but mixed in with the fall foliage and bags of dental anxiety is the oh so early signs of Christmas! “Come On!!! How many times do I need to say the same thing?”

Slow Down…It’s Not Even Halloween!

I guess this bring on the next holiday mentality is hitting me a little harder this year due in part to the multiple taped cardboard boxes filling the rooms on the main floor of my home! I cannot decorate yet…not until we move into our new home sometime the end of October. “I am going through seasonal decoration withdrawals!” What’s a girl to do? Grin and bear it…grind my teeth till my jaws ache in overwhelming agony! “Oh wait! Been there done that…another story!”

Can anyone explain why retailers insist upon initiating the Christmas holiday before the end of Septmeber? Don’t we have enough in our proverbial plates without the continuous reminders of how many shopping day remain until Christmas? Have I even started shopping? “Well I did find a perfect gift for my Military Son…and yes I bought it!” I can only hope I can find the box marked VIP Christmas 2014 when I get to the new house!

Perhaps the progressive march of the calendar is moving faster than I am ready to admit. So many differences this year as we head into the seasonal decorator’s paradise. With the three older boys no longer living at home and the expectations of change virtually doubled (or quadrupled) by moving;
it is easy to feel like I am moving at a turtle’s pace compared to most.

Hold on while I enjoy my pity party…

Okay…time to move one! Lots to do today and I need to move the laundry. Oh how I wish someone would drop by and wiggle their nose or blink everything into neat little snug boxes so that I could focus on the house work! The good news is the fact that with boxes everywhere I don’t have to vacuum or dust. “Well…not as much!”

I must confess…I have, in all my pre-planning of room arrangements, been trying to figure out where the Christmas Tree would go. Crud! Does this mean I am one of those way-too-early Christmas people? I hope not! Otherwise the fall candles I have in another specially marked box will not be enjoyed as they should.

Enough said…I am off to see how much I can pack away!!

Peach State says: Watching the Shadows Dance on my Wall!

20120517-065031.jpg
The ever-changing shadows played as the reflecting glow moved them across the wall.
The lined pattern, from the blinds, resembled a music staff as the various notes appeared and disappeared on the shadowy sheet of music. The symphonic movement composed for just me, all while Watching the Shadows Dancing on my Wall!

The elegant sway, as the light glistened on the wall, moved like the shimmering beacon from a lighthouse. Steady and direct…lending of itself confidence for the weary. The trees slowly performed a beautifully orchestrated ballet as the shadows stretched longingly across the wall. The fluttering of soft fairy wings moved silently around the shadows as the slight breeze moved freely through the leaves. Quietly, I relaxed, Watching the Shadows Dancing on my Wall!

My eyelids grow heavy…my body stills as it is enveloped by a billowy warmth. Breathing slows it’s pace as the glow flows around the room. The sleepy sounds of crickets and waves accompany the shadows as they dance. Fuzzily I try Watching the Shadows Dancing on my Wall!

My eyes lose the battle and give way to the night. The shadows fade as the reflections cease. The night silents the busy day to allow for the body’s recovery…in expectation of a new ballet. I will awaken to still shadows as I begin my day. I will admire, for a short time, the sun-dial movements of daytime shadows as they stretch slowly over the floor. Memories will pierce into my daily activities and I will long for another night-time symphony. The melodic movements will calm my chaotic world and give me a time to quiet my soul.

What a wonderful way to fall asleep…Watching the Shadows Dancing on my Wall!

Do you enjoy Watching the Shadows Dancing on the Wall? “I do…and I just had to share!” Have a great day!
