Peach State says: What A “CEB”…Clever Easter Bunny!

20130330-074012.jpg

The Saturday before Easter…Boy, do I remember those long drawn out days of my mother putting finishing touches on the Easter outfits and preparing our hair for the perfect hairstyle. The rigorous battle with my tangled bird’s nest to part and separate then apply curling gel and curl. The afternoon excitingly standing around the table, covered with newspaper, as vinegar scented color stations appeared for coloring our allotted hard boiled eggs. Once dry these splendid artistic masterpieces, with designs specific to the creator, would be place in the fridge to magically appear in the Easter Basket the next morning with a collection of Easter confections surrounding the unique Chocolate Easter Bunny. We knew which Easter Basket was ours by the decorated eggs placed strategically in the basket. The Easter Bunny also knew our likes and needs providing just the right non-food item next to our treasure.

What A “CEB”…Clever Easter Bunny!

Little did I know that one day the empty basket would be passed to me and I would be the “CEB” for my own children. And as you know…I took it a step further! I will prepare the meal in advance today except for the baking portion. I am looking forward to a day with my family tomorrow and do not want or need the added stress of cooking and cleaning. As for the baskets…we have downsized this year. My youngest announced that there was no Easter Bunny. His brothers told him he would regret that…and I just smiled! What a cost-cutting Easter this will be. The decorating of eggs is a thing of the past and the elaborate staging of the baskets and gifts…vanished like the infamous Bunny himself. The family Easter bowl will be the centerpiece with various chocolate bunnies present for each family member.

I will begin the mixing of the casseroles and the baking of the cake today…after a meeting. The stage will be set and I will be able to enjoy my family! What A “CEB”…Clever Easter Bunny!

Whatever your traditions…I hope you have a wonderful and blessed Easter.

Have a great day!

Peach State says: Wait! I’m Not Ready For A New Year!

20121231-071430.jpg

I have some good news and some bad news…
The good news:

Tomorrow is a new day and a New Year!

The bad news:

Today is Monday “OMG it’s Monday!” Could someone please stop this ever-spinning-hamster-wheel and let me do the things I need to do first. I need to finish my oversized cup of espresso, move the laundry, clean out the dishwasher, prepare and inhale another cup of coffee (espresso), and take my 19 year old to the dentist. “Sadly…these are just the items on my To-Do List before 8:30 this morning. You should see my continuous-stream-of-activities left on the handy-dandy-iPhone-yellow-pad. There is to much to be completed in the short 24 hour day! Wait…I am not ready to face what lies ahead. “Wait! I’m Not Ready For A New Year!

Time ticks very quickly by…as the excited yet annoying crowd counts down. The only problem is the fact that it is still early. I sit here trying to stuff these numerous thoughts into a sensical pattern while keeping my eye on the clock. Movement upstairs is a good sign but warns me that I need to get ready too. Today is starting out in the typical Monday blur which somehow feels comforting. Unusual stresses have attacked the sane front this week…death of a friends child, hospitalization of sweet member of the church, car accident last night of a dear couple in the church as they were going home from the child’s funeral visitation…

These tolls of life weigh heavy on many. These things mixed with the world events multiply the tension and stress in normal everyday life.

One thing at a time…breathe…sip…breathe…sip!

Time for me to face the next item on my list…I need to get ready to leave. I promise I will continue this espresso-driven-event-filled day. Until then…start working on your resolutions…

Resolutions…I need to do that!

Once I return home and settle in with another cup of coffee…espresso…I will delve into this topic…using as much humor as I can.

resolutions…really?” I will deal with that tomorrow!

Talk soon!

What is this? My 22 year old is taking my 19 year old to the dentist and the garbage is already out…call me giddy! I have some extra time….TIME!… ( Excuse me…I am doing the dance of joy!)
Moving a few things around and changing of the To-Do List is one of my specialities. My Shoot-from-the-hip-ADHD-mentality is a definite plus and one that I enjoy using. “Keep ’em guessing or as I like to call it…Amazing my hubby with my incredible abilities!”

I can leisurely finish my duties this morning and head out to buy the last needed items for the celebration tonight and the important re-supplying of the coffee pods for hubby. I can then return home and begin the mixing, rolling, stirring, baking and storing of the individual snacks for tonight and tomorrow.

Thought…Everything returns to normal on Wednesday…including choir practice and praise team practice which we have not had since November! I am so ready for that. Sorry! My ADHD is working overtime with lack of schedule.

The shortened check list is putting a smile on my face, for a split second, as my 12 year old begins to clean out the dishwasher. ( This is one of his chores which he has NOT done in many days…and he only started to clean it out after I, reading/proofing this post out loud, read the part about the dishwasher.) “I may have to re-think his chore list…but that can wait for another day!”

I will relax once these tasks are completed and the table of goodies is set out. Our little family celebration will include a movie and the traditional Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve. We will enjoy each other as we usher in this New Year of 2013 all while hoping for a better year. I hope you have a wonderful time tonight with your family and friends! Make a good and lasting memory! We will!

With love and hope in my heart…Happy New Year and Have a great day!

Peach State says: Rainy Day=Family Movie Day!

20120918-121952.jpg
I could let the dark and rainy day influence my mood…but not today! My 22 year old greeted me this morning with one of my favorite movies and plugged it in. We enjoyed watching it together before my other two sons woke up. We then began the ever present chore list and are preparing to watch another movie together. Rainy Day=Family Movie Day!

What would you do and can you really blame me? So I will not stay here today and chat…I will spend a little time laughing and giggling, as we repeat the memorable movie quotes, with my boys!

Peach State says: Just Find Your Happy Thought Peter!

20120228-081525.jpg

We face many obstacles everyday as we journey along through this life. Brick walls block our way forcing us to alter our direction and plans. We see no light at the end of our endless tunnel that seems to grow darker with each step. “Just Find Your Happy Thought Peter!”

Finding a happy thought can be difficult but not impossible. The smallest glimmer of hope can shed light on a virtual wasteland of defeat. We force ourselves to get up in the morning and trudge off to jobs or busy schedules with family and friends. There are many happy thoughts in that statement…we can get up and are breathing..we have a job…we have family and friends… Many people feel they don’t even have these luxuries in their life. They may not be able to get out of bed or may have experienced the death of a loved one. There is an emptiness than envelopes us during this time. It is temporary but does not feel like it at the time. “Just Find Your Happy Thought Peter!”

Tinkerbell tries to help Peter remember his happy thought so Peter can fly. Faith, trust, and Pixie Dust…that is all it takes! Unfortunately we don’t have a Pixie Dust distributor or fairies flying around sprinkling the transporting glitter over the heads of those in need. We all have needs in our lives and have to find ways to get past them and move one to the next challenge.

Faith is one way…faith in your beliefs and in those around you. Faith grows with each giant we face…even though we may not realize it at the time. We may not slay the giant but we will get past the giant. Situations bombard daily life in the decisions we make, people around us, finances, and health. We may not be able to see the road block until it is too late. What builds our faith is our reaction. The approach we take in resolving the situation could lead us down
various paths and we must follow through…step by step. The path may be steep and hard to maneuver. Trials and tragedies may come our way in many different varieties. We may find no solution is available to solve the problem and the only way around this road block is filled with treacherous, spirit defeating, landslide prone ground. We must have the faith to continue and trust in our progress. Faith goes hand in hand with Trust!

Bad things happen to good people…we trust that something good will come out of the situation. If our finances are dealing us fits and thrusting us into a life of uncertainty we can trust that we can find something good. (Happy Thought) Things are tight and we cannot do the things we used to do…but we can spend time together as a family or enjoy quality time with those dear to us. Making the most of what we have, at any given time, is the best use of time. The death of a loved one or friend affects many in different ways. Withdrawing from those closest to you will only lead you into a dark place. We must cling to those around us and hold each other close. Healing will take time! We must find our happy thought in the memories left behind. Those we lose want us to continue and not dwell on their passing. A smile or scent may bring us that happy thought needed to get through the days ahead. These complications are difficult and overwhelming…but as we move forward and glimpse the problems we faced behind us we can see they were just growing pains. “Those pains during childhood growth spurts, doctors call non-existent, that let us know we are changing.” We get through them and stand taller because of them. (OOO! Another Happy Thought!) We will get through these situations and do not need Pixie Dust! In our set backs and struggles we must hold on to our Faith and Trust, setting our eyes forward and take the next step. There are happy thoughts all around us…“Just Find Your Happy Thought Peter!”</em
