What is Labor Day without a few Labor Day Chores?
Up before the roosters this morning…as usual…while visions of basketballs bounce through two of my son’s dreams. Today is game day in more way than one. After getting hubby off to his daily grind I will lovingly motivate the younger two, as I stir them from their restful slumber, so we can leave about 8:30 for a 9am game. During the time at the church gym I may, or may not, have a practice for the special tomorrow. Once the game is over we will race home for a possible meeting with my Straight-Jacket Award inspirer and a flexible Pre-K teacher friend for VBS Planning. “Yes, I said VBS!” Once completed…it is time for focused viewing of some long-awaited college football. My team’s game is at 7PM tonight so it will be a long day.
[“Laundry moved and commuter-coffee put in hubby’s car!”]
Tomorrow I will get to sleep in a whole 20-30 minutes before preparing for my day of sound checks and time with dear friends at church. Bragging rights for the college football fans will start early with colors and high-fives. The only raising of voices will be during the singing and, of course, preaching portion of the services.”The day will be slower than most Sundays with a church-wide picnic tomorrow night. I hope to attend for a little while…seeings how my hubby would rather stay home! “Maybe I could tell him I am going to pick up dinner!”
Labor Day itself…well we will just have to wait and see how that day unfolds.
“Speaking of unfolds…time to fold the recently-removed-and-still-warm clothes.”
Those of you reading this, who have college teams playing today, I wish you luck…unless your team is playing one of my favorites…(insert evil chuckle)
“May your cup runneth over with joy, love and laughter oh, and really fabulous coffee!”
Anticipation mounts and snacks are prepared. My hubby was notified last night that the control of the family TV has been turned over to me and my 19 year old. “He moaned and agreed knowing he could lean his chair back and nap…well in between the cheers and jeers!” That time of year has finally arrived…Football…You Bet! I am in are you?
I love my SEC Football and have a connection with several teams. Of course the Sunday following game day can be hard to maneuver but, I have learned how to navigate the stormy waters of wins and losses. I am a Die-hard fan and love my team…even on those not so nice game days. Whether you watch or not there is someone you know who is a sports enthusiast.
“I am so ready for some football!” I hope your team of choice wins unless you play my team…then again if we are cheering for the same team…I hope your team wins! I will put on my special team outfit and wear my colors proudly.
Now if only the weather would cooperate and become a beautiful, crisp day it would make my day complete. But we can’t have everything so knowing the weather forecast for today is hot and muggy I will hold to the dream of a great football day inside with a ceiling fan to keep me calm, cool, and somewhat collected.
Have a great day!
I know, I know…Summer still has a few more days before…but a girl can dream.
Driving down the winding highway as colors burst from each tree…leaves that playfully trickle down to their final resting place after a gentle ballet in the breeze…what a dream!
I love the Fall! It is, by far, my favorite season of all weather wise. A crisp coolness in the air as cooler temperatures replace the hot and humid air of Summer. I am so ready…I just can’t wait…I am Dreaming of Fall!
Walking through the woods on a fresh carpet of fallen leaves as they crunch beneath my feet…the smells of woodsy scents. The cozy times at home with family as the daylight fades early and homes glow through the windows. Candles flicker as wisps of cinnamon and leaves rise filling the house with memories of Falls past.
Casually taking in the outdoors, as I sit on my backyard swing, with my oversized sweater and a cup of coffee. I will lift my face towards the sky and soak in the warm rays as I feel the cooling breeze blowing across my face.
Comfort foods like chili and chicken and dumplings fill the tables as menus change. I do love my comfort foods! Baking of goodies to warm the senses of family members as they come home for the day.
OOO…and College Football! But that is another day’s blog!
I love Fall and I am Dreaming of Fall! Aren’t You?
Have a great day!
