It’s My 6 Shot Morning!

IMG_5944My doctor asked me the other day, as my stomach growled like a roaring lion, what I had for breakfast.  A smile crept across my face and I said…”I had my usual!” I continued…”It’s My 6 Shot Morning!

I have to admit I truly love watching the different facial expressions I often get in response to that statement.  😳😡🤔😤💀🙀🙉🙊🙈

“Sorry for the multiple emojis.  I like pushing buttons!”

After I explained what I meant and my doctor was breathing again the laughter began! She was afraid I was driving while intoxicated!  I know it had to have been 5 o’clock somewhere but not in my little corner of the world.  My quaintquietquackyquirky little world is filled with arobicized activities along with the normalrunofthemill life of a mother!  I love the extra bowling pins added to my juggling routine.  The occasional diaper change and feeding, the extra taxi duties for my son and two of his friends to track practice. Oh, and the virtual treadmill of track meets!  Ah..the life of a track mom! But that’s another story for another day!

My doctor understood my need for the 6 Shot Morning…she prescribed a pill to help me sleep at night!  I left her office and headed back toward the old homestead…doing my varied errands on the way…including my drive through at the Starbucks across the street for another 4!!!  “Shh!!! What she doesn’t know won’t hurt her!”

“May your cup runneth over with love, laughter and really fabulous coffee!”

Peach State says: Noisy Morning

The sound of the lightly falling rain, in it’s on again off again dance, mixed with the sound of chirps and tweets.  The gentle dripping sound as the raindrops weigh down the lush green leaves and collectively flow to the next leaf in it’s journey to the ground.  Then, in the midst of the the relaxing spa soundscape, a crashing swoosh of pelting drops and scurrying varmints.  Picture this…the squirrels are jumping from branch to branch shaking every leaf.  It is shaping up to be a blissful “Noisy Morning” complete with a set of rain sticks rotating like an hour glass.

I need more coffee to enjoy this properly.
“May your cup runneth over with joy, love and laughter oh, and really fabulous cup of coffee!”

Peach State says: A Graceful Lady Passes

2015/01/img_6595.jpg
The day had finally arrived.
We had all expected the news…yet who really wants to hear the words. “Mema passed away this morning.”
These words are still ringing vividly after almost two weeks. Let me just say…

“A Graceful Lady Passes!”

A sweet gathering of friends and family remembered Mema in the quietly spoken words and gentle hugs. Memories flooded the small chapel as her beautiful reminder lay quiet. “Funerals are not one of my strong suits!”
The minister had asked for memories from the grandchildren and great-grands. Funny thing is…the words were all the same. He spoke with me before the service and asked if was the author of a certain memory. I smiled and said yes…Here are the words.

“Just a few words or brief memory…impossible! This is the best I can do.
Butterscotch ( buttered rum) Lifesavers, Juicy Fruit gum, Clove gum, 7-up and grape juice, Welch’s Grape Juice, taffy pulls, coloring, fluffy comforters, her grace and elegance, dress-up like a princess, etiquette lessons, crossing legs at the ankles, using correct grammar, life lessons and shared wisdom, simple made special, fresh tomato sandwiches, tuna sandwiches and tomato soup, We don’t play with the buzzer, the joys of conversation, walks on the beach, choosing a good book, the preparing of a tray and successfully carrying it to the sun parlor, and the importance of a good cup of coffee.
Mema impacted my life and will continue to impact my life with everything she taught me. I love you Mema!”

It has been difficult to walk through my home and not think of Mema…
I run my hand on the back of the four chairs that used to occupy her home. These memory filled reminders tug at my heart with lessons and laughter from the past. Even now, as I sit out on my screened-porch, I find a smile on my face as I recall the conversations we had over morning coffee. The calming appreciation of the scampering squirrels chasing each other through the trees and crunchy ground cover as well as the gentle breeze stirring the tall slender trunks of leafless branches were just one of the valuable lessons she passed on to those who would take the time to listen. “I listened!”
“Of course…I need more coffee to truly experience this memory…Be Right Back!”

Well that’s better! Granted she wasn’t an espresso drinker!

There was a picture at the service of Mema sitting in the white chair that now sits in my foyer/dinning room. I, sadly, do not have that photo but will be inquiring about it!

The little pink “Princess Chair” sits in my room and has been used quite a bit. “I put my shoes and socks on while sitting in this delicate chair.”

2015/01/img_2178.jpg How can I not think about her at every turn in my house?

So with a tearful eye and enriched heart I cast a “royal like wave”, as only she would wave, up to heaven to let her know she may be gone but in no way forgotten.

But…you know what would make it an even better day…you could do the same thing. Wouldn’t that be fun?

“Sounds Like A Plan!” or maybe NOT!

I am house hunting today and I can’t imagine my day with an un medicated son! Great…now I need a new plan!

Peach State says: Maybe Just One More Cup!

IMG_5860-0.JPG

After a quick sip of my “Heavenly Brew”, to ease the taking of my morning meds, I headed upstairs with hubby’s coffee (quad-Venti-vanilla-latte’) and oatmeal. He cheerfully dragged his feet as he entered his office and with a deep wrinkled brow said “Why are you so angry?” “Uh…I haven’t even said anything yet!” “Well you didn’t have to yell!” Confused I sat down and drank more coffee (my typical Venti-6 shot-espresso with a tablespoon of flavoring) and hoped hubby’s coffee would quickly change his outlook! Thirty minutes later I gathered the empty bowl and the travel mug and headed downstairs to begin the next segment of my morning routine. As I began to walk past the desk hubby looked at his watch…I smiled and said, “You wanted to get an early start…right?”… “I know, I know…don’t get so angry!” Nope…Coffee is still not working!

Once downstairs, with the youngest, I begin to set up hubby’s travel cup as a breakfast bowl is tossed onto the table. Cereal is poured followed by milk…SLURRRP…SLURRRP! “Could you please reduce the slurping to a soft roar?” The look on his face was not a happy-love-you-mom-you’re-the-best look.

“Maybe Just One More Cup!”

By the time I finish it I will be the only person at home. OR… maybe I should make sure to give the youngest a cup with breakfast and just ignore the sleepy hubby! On second thought I should just continue doing the same old routine and realize I am happier with my coffee…and that is all that matters…RIGHT? “Yeah, I didn’t think so!” I do want everyone happy and nice!

Hubby has just left for his daily 50 minute trek and the youngest is frantically pushing the tiny buttons on his phone. Five more minutes! Sip…sip The under the breath reading and humming is becoming a tad bit annoying. (If you have ever heard a tone-deaf Gollum sing or hum then you will understand better what I am exoeriencing!)
OOO…he stands and plugs his phone back on the charger and…(heart sinking disappointment) he waits for a reply! Whatever happened to watching the clock to leave? SIP!. Wait for it…”Have a great day!”

The solitary clock is ticking as the gentle hum of the fridge cycles off. The sound of a school bus passing the house as the dogs next door bark at the gathered children waiting for the last bus to run it’s route. SIP…”Good morning from this HAPPY and Highly Misunderstood NICE Person!

“May your cup runneth over with joy, love and laughter oh, and really fabulous coffee!”

Peach State says: Nothing to Eat OR Drink?

20140626-071850-26330157.jpg

My first CT Scan’s original scheduled date, with an early appointment time of 9 AM, was cancelled due to no authorization from insurance. I was okay with “Nothing to Eat OR Drink” after midnight BUT…the winds of change blew my schedule off course! Picture this…The insurance company on my hubby’s phone and the medical appointment manager on mine and the term “conference call” took on a new meaning. Authorization was given and a new appointment was set for…”What? 11 AM?

I quickly counted back as the instructions hit my ears. “Nothing to Eat OR Drink…for four hours prior to your CT Scan!” I breathed a sigh of relief! Tragedy had been averted and my life had been spared! “What? A little too dramatic?” Well, if you know anything about me you know what I was thinking about….COFFEE!

When I picked up my #*%~”Tasty Cocktail”@^~~ , as it was called by the tech, the instructions were given again and I agreed and smiled. I was asked why I was smiling. “Because I get up at 5:30 am and can still have my morning COFFEE!”
The tech chuckled and shook her head…

So the first half of the yummy “Berry Smoothie” has been swallowed with one more dose in 2 hours and 7 minutes. Then it will be time to get ready and dash out the door. ” I think I will stop by Starbucks on the way home!”

“May your cup runneth over with joy, love and laughter oh, and really fabulous coffee!”

Peach State says: Needed…Before I Explode!

Okay, so maybe I do not need a trip to the beach…. “That would be nice!”
I just need to figure out what, in the world, I am doing wrong! How can I be this big of a failure! Hot-Cold, Yes-No, Snow-Rain…I do know the difference!. “Let me explain!”
Why is it that when the weather radar shows rain and there is a definite presence of rain falling from the sky that it is not raining. “Confused?” [Short Version] The wiser-than-I-could-ever-hope-to-be-13-year-old was told several times that it would be raining later in the morning and yet chose to wait until the droplets began to fall to begin a chore. With a grand “how dumb are you look” he starred at me and said…”It’s not raining!” I could care less if he plays in the rain but do not stand there and give me that ” go suck an egg look” which resembles the previous “how dumb are you look”.

Soaked and with clothes weighed down he comes in and announces that he is finally done. He marched upstairs and took a 40 minute shower. I look out the back window and “nope…not done!”

I have no clue how to deal with a combative and disrespecting genius.
“After all…my other sons have told me asked for my help and guidance and complimented my abilities!”
!

This mystery will never be solved…
“Maybe I would better off counting how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop!”

With so many human emotions bouncing back and forth in my heart and life it is a good thing I can still smile! ( as I hold a cup of coffee!)

“May your cup runneth over with joy, love and laughter oh, and really fabulous coffee!”
