Peach State says: A Little Unexpected!

20130621-080400.jpg
This is what my motto is today after the yesterday I had…but I was up to the challenge. “Or was I?”

A Little Unexpected…well you could say that. It was supposed to be a typical day. A little more house cleaning, a little more baking, a little more sprucing of the old homestead and a little special time with friends.

Boy did my calendar of chores fill-up the day!

Cleaning Day…Baking Day:
It started out as usual and then, caught in the increasing current at a majestic waterfall, all my planning was swept away to be sucked over and into the rapids. I had originally planned to finalize the cleaning, soon after Hubby left, while my sweet treats for the party were baking. One cold dip…which needed to meld while two other ingredients where sautéed and cooled before mixing. Another dip was mixed and served warm but could not be baked at the same time as the sweet. “Buffalo chicken and chocolate chunk just don’t bake we’ll together.” NOPE!!!

Instead…Recording CD Day:
I was given very little notice late Wednesday night that my vocal tones were needed the next morning to record the alto vocals for one of the Patriotic songs for our Independence Day Celebration. When I arrived at my church, with two sons in tow, I was prepared to sing the one song for the altos. What started out as one song turned into all three songs. “Rut Ro Raggy! Could we please go over this song…I have not seen this one before!

Relief flooded over me after finding out that I was not alone and that the soprano, who had been called in to perform the same function for her section, did not know the song either. 20 minutes later, when we were to be finished recording, we had successfully gone over all three songs. BUT then…my dear friend and music director was called away to a meeting. “We waited!”

For 45 minutes the soprano and I chatted about life, family, previous churches…both knowing that the time we both needed to leave was fast approaching. “Guess who came roaring back into the choir room one minute before our deadline?” Apologies were made and off we went to the sound booth. The soprano was up first…I sang along going over my part as I pointed to each note making sure I knew my part. It was then my turn…the three songs were recorded and I prepared to leave.

“Uh!…Where do you think you are going?” Said my music director “…you still need to record the 2nd Soprano part!” (I know what you are thinking…why did the soprano not record the 2nd Soprano part? Well I sight read and she doesn’t. Besides I am often called upon to sing parts other than alto. Don’t worry I am not the only person who can sight read in the choir.) I had the soprano sing her part with me as I recorded the 2nd Soprano part. Once completed I raced home to begin my party preparation.

Painting Day“:
My hubby decided he was not satisfied with the wall colors we…did I say WE…chose and applied to the walls about a year ago. New colors have been chosen…

20130621-085158.jpg
Squirrel…the darker green color…family room
Tan-gent…most of the hallways
Seedling…the lighter shade of green…foyer and stairwell
Twilight…Laundry room
Aged Parchment…ceiling

Can you tell how excited I am about this new undertaking? The total interruption of routine is not something I am looking forward to! My 20 year old will be doing a majority of the painting but I wil have to deal with the stagnant flow of the job for several days. You know how most 20 year olds can be…yep! I am really looking forward to this change of color.

I Need More Coffee“:
As you would guess…coffee has been intravenously flowing throughout my exhaustion prone routine. BUT…after the cleaning…after the baking…after the recording…after the selecting and buying of paint…after the party…I managed to stay awake until after midnight. I woke up before the butt-crack-of-dawn to a normal morning ritual and now sit here fighting the drooping-eye-want-to-sleep-day-after syndrome. My strong-overly-caffeinated-breakfast is not cutting it. “I guess it is a good thing that I am meeting the consultant from last night’s party and a guest from last night at Starbucks in about an hour.

I need more Coffee…I will get more Coffee!

In closing…I guess my day will be filled with picture removal and moving of furniture…overseeing the moving of furniture. ( that was close…I could see that proverbial wagging finger rising up.) I don’t want to be in pain like before especially since I was in pain last night from the racing around I did yesterday. I better go…

Have a great day!

Peach State says: Over Did It In Overdrive!

I have reached the end…and finally settle down and have put my feet up…
You would too if you had “Over Did It In Overdrive!

The racing-shuttle-ushered-schedule-driven-minds to their appointed destinations.

Translation….Mom’s Taxi Service was slammed with customers today!

I forgot to eat breakfast and lunch…and managed to buy the few remaining items needed at the grocery store without giving into temptation waiting to check out.

Translation…My stomach is going berserk and I wanted a candy bar soooo bad.

And to make the day more enjoyable I have been in some soul-reaching pain.

Translation….I Really Hurt and Want Some Drugs! Okay…Tylenol!

The good news is that I will not have to cook dinner….until closer to 6:30! What a lucky break!

Have a great day!

Who, in their right mind, plans an meeting for butt-crack-of-dawn-o’clock? That would be my hubby’s boss! He has no life and goes to bed early every night and wakes up earlier than I do every day. “That is just plain wrong!” And if that’s not bad enough…add the wake-up call of the front door alarm chime sounding at 5:10 AM as my 19 year old left to work out with his mentor. “Hey…mom is trying to sleep!”

I had taken my Melatonin last night in the hopes of a longer sleep time…nope, not going to happen…

Pain meds taken gave no relief…

Even the sound of the falling rain offered no solace…

Need…More…Coffee!

Wait a second…it will get better…it has to! I have a meeting with my youngest son’s teachers this morning and will have my “Wonderful Heavenly Brew” with me as I drop off my 19 year old at a job site before heading to the school. The good news is that my son will be working this week, and my meeting will only be about 45 minutes. The house will be quiet, the rain will still be falling, and I will be able to do what ever I want to do until my youngest gets home from school.

I could make a fresh pot of COFFEE to sip on as I go about the normal activities that fill my day. I might be able to take a little time and sort my coupons and grocery list for items not previously purchased, now that I have $$$ in my account again.

“I would love to work on my book!” It has been a while since I wrote anything and so much has happened! Then another cup of “Heavenly Brew” to enjoy as my youngest does his homework and then one for the evening filled with TKD and Basketball practice.

Yep…this is a perfect day…everything will fall into place on this dark-overcast-rainy-busy-Monday!

Need…More…Coffee! “But then again, Who wouldn’t?” I will have a fresh pot made if you want to stop by…

Happy Monday…and…Have a great day!

No light is shinning from behind the trees this morning. The birds are silent and still. The fragrance of rain fills the air as the scattered droplets touch the varied surfaces. It is Saturday morning and I wish I was still in bed…but the day will march forward carrying me in it’s flow. I will sip from my tall pink cup and close my eyes. Thoughts of this past week have been knocking around in my dreams, bringing to life these events already lived. They were not spectacular in nature and tedious to most. But this is my life…and this is my Sunrise Reflections!

Singing and music was a large part of this weeks activities. Everyday the songs flow through my head, repeating the tune and lyrics. “This always happens when I am memorizing the music.”
I was at the church on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Thursday and Friday did not revolve around singing, except for the special that three of us went over Thursday while working on the choir room. We successfully cleaned the choir room and rearranged the furniture too! “I can’t wait to hear and see the reaction tomorrow!” This has been a long week but this coming week will be longer…we have the final practices leading up to the dress rehearsal and performance next weekend.

Another warming sip of my latte’ as a smile creeps across my face…my youngest has been out of school due to the county wide 2-day break. Economic cutbacks! He was with me at the church on Thursday and Friday…he was a real big help! Someone watched as he took the boxes and boxes of choir robes and miscellaneous music from the choir room to the music library. He was so excited when he was able to use a Dollie to move more than one at a time and use the elevator. Yesterday he received am iTunes card from the person who had watched him working. She said it was so good to see a young man work so hard…she wanted to give him something to tell him “Way to go!”
I was thankful and proud…”He spent the rest of the day writing a list of songs to download.”
At least he was busy…and out of other people’s way.

Spending time with friends is a wonderful activity. This past week gave me the chance to do just that. Thursday and Friday from about 8:45-2:30 (a guesstimate on the ending time) I was fortunate enough to spend time with a dear friend. We sing together and share the love of Starbucks and our daily coffee and poke fun at each other on Facebook. The similarities are numerous and have created strong ties between us. We found that our previous skills in the workplace prepared us for a challenge set before us yesterday. The making of copies for the sound personnel and the worship leader and a smaller notebook for the praise team…of the Easter Music…so that these people would be able to lay the book flat and not have to struggle and fight the pages. The copier was not our friend…in the beginning! We came to an understanding…it would make copies and I would not blow it up. I thought that was fair! One of the songs in our Easter Music is called “O Great Redeemer!” I was singing it in my head and got to the chorus and out came a loud “O Great..” before I could finish my friend turned around in fear…”What happened?” “everything is fine…why?” She thought I was saying Oh great…like something is wrong…with the copies. We both laughed and began singing song snip-its to fit the situation. She joked that this would end up on my blog…and she was right! Time passed quickly and so did the work!

I was able, for the most part, to keep up with the laundry at home as well as the other tasks. “I did good!” It will be a typical Saturday for me and I am looking forward to a slow day. Pausing to drink some more of my latte’ and listen to the squeaking floor as my husband walks across the bathroom floor upstairs. The birds are awake now as the thick cloud cover hides the suns warm glow. My shadow and constant companion, a black English Cocker, is curled up in the chair next to mine. She is 13 years old today! She will be spoiled…but then again she is spoiled everyday. The house is quiet but that will change as my two older sons get ready to go to work. It will be a quiet day…hopefully!

This is Brittany…timing is everything…it looks like she is smiling but she had just sneezed. “I like to think it is a smile.” Enjoy the day you have ahead of you. You will only have this day to live once and then it will fade as the morning fog in your Sunrise Reflections!
