Peach State says: My Youngest’s Furrowed Brow
A mixed-match day of sorting…breaking to chat with you a moment.
My youngest asked as I began to type if I had written a poem recently…I responded “Yes” and kept trying to complete my list of tags and categories. He seemed very interested so I paused what I was doing and showed him my last poem. I told him to read it out loud. “Big mistake!”
As this 6th grader began to stumble along the unfamiliar word path he began to frown. I stopped him and began to read it for him. Once I finished he was still frowning…
My Youngest’s Furrowed Brow so deeply filled with questions and confusion. “What is that word?…I don’t know that word!…What kind of poem is that?”
I just smiled…trying to explain the answers one question at a time. Here is an excerpt from the poem I wrote in February that really Furrowed His Brow:
There is a gentle swaying
as the bare naked limbs stretch across the sky.
The tinkling tones sound
as the helpless chimes compose new melodies.
Constant and unchallenged the steady breeze blows…But wait!
A new sound finds my ears
as the leave-less giants quiver and bend.
The melody is mashed
as the confused chimes crash together.
The fury of the Windy Howl!
I guess he is not ready for imagery! It was fun trying to explain the poem…maybe I should read him some “Poe”… Hehe…not yet!
Have a great Saturday and enjoy those around you!

Peach State says: Back to School…You’ve Made a Mistake!
Teachers to meet, classes to find.
Retracing the steps left behind.
Four days left, back to the grind.
Time to bring order to the mind.
Summer’s still here, for goodness sake.
I wish I was going to the lake.
Early to bed, and early I wake,
To catch the school bus I have to take.
Pencils and pens, paper all lined.
New shoes for the stairs I will climb.
Notebooks and folders, paper will bind.
Here are the forms for you to sign!
This can’t be real! See the date!
It is time for more memories to make.
Mom just smiles, “Don’t be late!”
“Back to School…You’ve Made a Mistake!”
This was based on some of the phrases my soon to be 6th Grader has said since yesterday. School starts August 1st…Wednesday and that is four days away. He really has mixed feelings about school starting. Can you see that in these thoughts? We met the teachers yesterday and the topic was the same among the parents and kids….”It seems early this year!”…”Can I go see my friends?”…these questions could be heard all around us. The good news is that we will have a week off in September so the first official countdown has begun. “Sorry…I still tend to think like a teacher.”
When do your kids start school? Are you ready for what the new year will bring?
I am glad I only have one going to school…which means only one stack of forms to sign. Yes…yes…yes! I hope you enjoy this end of Summer with your family….Have a great day!

Peach State says: Rain Kissed Morning!
My skin tingles in the cooled morning air
Standing alone in the dark.
The light gentle breeze does it’s share
Wiping the collected drop from it’s mark.
The rain paused as clouds pass over
The welcoming thirsty earth.
Refreshed are delicate blooms and clover
Enjoying a moistened drink and rebirth.
Normal chores and relaxing…not scheduled today
But time with dear friends.
A smile and laugh and loving hugs will say
All troubles God has hold and attends.
There may be drops of rain from their eyes
Wiped away by love.
Standing strong together our friendship binds
A love brought together from above.
The rain will likely return until dark
Graying the sky.
But this time with those held close to my heart
Are bonds no one can untie.
I wrote this today while preparing for a trip to the hospital for a follow-up surgery of my dear friend’s daughter. She is 6 years old and is having a bone implant grafted onto her skull. She had a surgery earlier this year to remove a growth and it went very well…I know this is routine but so is the anxiety of this procedure. Please remember her today. Her surgery is at 8:30 this morning…EST.
I am off to get ready to leave…Have a great day!

Peach State says: Coolness of the Morning Air!
The morning wakes with fewer sounds today
As the birds huddle close in their nests.
The grass sparkles with dew on each blade
Reflecting the Moon’s farewell glow at it’s best.
My uncovered toes chilled and exposed
Against the cold bricks off the steps.
A dog travels past with runner in tow
As down to my dog’s collar I leapt.
Back inside…no time for socks
I head to my heavenly brew!
Warming my hands as the clock tick tocks,
My routine quickly resumes.
All chaos today is orderly and neat,
Everyone moves in quickened pace.
Doors open and close as time they beat,
Beginning their individual race.
A new cup in my hand filled with espresso
My toes covered up in my chair.
Attempting to warm my feet and my toes,
Safe from the Coolness of the Morning Air!
Have a great day!

Peach State says: Welcome to Friday!
A melody plays, a peppy tune,
Alerting you to the new day.
What? Already? It’s to soon!
Hey! Welcome to Friday!
Up, Up and Away you go,
To set your day in motion.
Hazy, Sleepy, moving slow!
Coffee! What a notion!
Things to do, people to see.
The days begins to take shape.
Dark, rainy, sip on coffee!
It’s Friday for goodness sake!
Two sleep and two out the door.
In full start of their day.
Peaceful, quiet, doggy snores!
Yep! Welcome to Friday!
Have a great day!

Peach State says: That Bright Orange Glow!
Everything was fine,
Everything was still.
Not concerned with time,
Till I awoke against my will.
The blaring song,
The morning bestowed.
For sleep I longed,
Not “That Bright Orange Glow!”
So rise I must,
Taking on the day.
To clean and dust,
My schedule dictates.
Consistent in actions,
Scheduled items in tow.
No time for distractions,
Embracing “That Bright Orange Glow!”
