I am sitting here watching the movie that inspired my “blogging endeavor”.
Julie & Julia…one of my favorite movies about two of my favorite things. Cooking and friends.
As Amy Adams character begins her blog she feels a emptiness that the words that pour out her into her blog fall into the undiscovered-vast-expanse of the deepening internet reality. “I have felt like that…have you?”
The pure love of food and sharing it with those closest to you…what would you serve?
Julie is up to the Lobster Thermadore ( forgive the spelling if incorrect!) “Lobster Killer!”
I laughed so hard when the lid rises, as if the lobsters are working together to escape the “Lobster Killer”, and Julie goes running into the other room! “Between you and me…I have no room to talk…I have never cooked a whole lobster!”
I remember going to Seattle, with my hubby, to celebrate our anniversary and having this incredible entree called “Steak Oscar”. Cheese, artichokes and crab mixed into a lovely tasty topping for my filet. Melt in your mouth good! Some might say better than ________!
“You can put whatever you would like to put in the blank…hehe!”
I had to attempt the delectable mixture at home. “Success!”. Reality does tend to enter our existence on a daily basis. Meltdowns occur, recipes burn, dishes explode all over the kitchen. “15 second rule!” Julia said to never apologize if it doesn’t look right…it’s always the way it’s supposed to be! Silly me…I still apologize! Perhaps I am more The Pioneer Woman instead of Julia Childs.
I guess it is a good thing my hubby likes my creativity! What is your favorite dish?
Life is a great cup of coffee and a box of dark chocolate!
I had finally escaped the paint-fume-prison all by myself. I drove directly to the gas station…
Then over to the bank as I ordered part of dinner on the phone. Once those were completed I set out to get me nails
overhauled…done! Semi peace and quiet! For the next few minutes I felt a stress-relieving-calm with no complaining or griping and way-too-loud searching for tools. The door to the salon suddenly became a revolving door. One after another ladies filed in to get their mani-pedis. Two ladies were seated next to each other. At first glance you could tell one was a business professional with her perfectly styled hair and casual dress complete with iPad accessories. The other was, for lack of a better term, “frumpy” and more down to earth. They struck up a conversation…”I set up events and work in Interior Design!”…”I have a business related to eBay!” Then It Started…the competition to see who was more creative and professional! “Well I have a blog!” …”Really so do I!…I did not know anyone in our area blogged!” “I know…I just knew I was the only one who knew how to blog in our area!”
Imagine My “Blogging” Surprise!
It was not difficult to hear their conversation…however with each announcement of the executive abilities they each possessed, because of their blogging talents, the more their competitive tones amplified. They compared their jobs, skills, and blogs. Throughout the the mutual-adoration-fest subtle truths began making it to the surface…things like not being consistent with blogging, or the fact that one of them did not actually write the blog but that several of the people she works with contribute to a blog. I tried to get in on this “Ultimate Blogging Competition” but was unsuccessful. Then like a massive dust storm rising out of nowhere came this remark…”I have never met anyone who could successfully blog for more than a few months!”
Imagine My “Blogging” Surprise!
I was itching to get in on this competition but realized I was better than that and I did not need to prove it… After all I have written a children’s book and am still working on another project. (Note to self…find the manuscript and finish proofing the last chapter!) I did have questions about the money making side of blogging but my nails were done. I needed to grab a few things at the store and pick up the order at the restaurant before heading back to the painted canvas called home. I must admit that I did chuckle, to myself, quite a few times during this dramatic and informative conversation. The gentleman doing my nails heard me a couple of times and remarked that this was mild as conversations go. It really makes you think about what type of conversations the workers have overheard.
I wished I could have reassured this Elite Blogging Duo that they are not alone and that someone else blogs in the area…but then I would not have had as much fun listening in on the conversation. (Insert chuckle!)
Have a Great day!
It was the cutest thing…I just had to share!
So I went to meet my friend this morning and as she walked in…she grinned and said…
“In honor of your blog!”
She had not only read this morning’s post but she had worn a hat! It was an “Aww!” moment.
I just had to share! Enjoy your evening and we’ll talk tomorrow!
The ability to string words together in an ordered manner is a talent I have long held near and dear. I have maneuvered my way out of many sticky situations, with cleverness, as I parade various adjectives and adverbs ornately amongst the facts. Many of my teachers and college professors would side-bar my writing with favorable comments.
“The ideas shared on this topic were creatively unique!”,
“The familiarity you shared with the main character gave this paper a quality unseen in previous students!”
and my favorite…”Did you read the book at all?”
😉 I was literally handed my paper as the professor in my 500 level English Lit class asked me this question. I simply smiled and asked if I could see my grade first. He turned the paper over to reveal an “A”. The professor asked again if I had read the book…and I promptly responded yes…”Most of it!” He immediately inquired about my methods. Maybe it was my love for reading or the understanding of subject matter. Maybe it was my ability to tell a story. Whatever the case…I love doing This Thing I Do!
I have found that by seeking a positive and often humorous approach in my writing I enjoy a vast range of topics. My friends and I have some of the best title concepts which lead my brain to quickly explore subject matter connected with each of the Blog Worthy titles.
I had the opportunity to write my blog last night with a little help from a dear friend, often referred to in my blogs as Mutual Cat Loving Friend, while I was at basketball practice with my youngest. We squealed and squawked with the creation of the post. Of course it may have been the fact that we had both had very hard days and really needed to release the emotions quickly rising and ready to explode with the strength of a volcanic eruption.
Whether therapeutic or just a plain-old-love to write…my blog is satisfying. “I sadly watch my stats but not like I use to.” I have also found that this is another way to connect with my friends. We laugh and discuss daily topics often losing ourselves in conversation with people around us staring strangely at us. We stop and explain…”Peach State writes a blog and we are talking about something she recently wrote.” “You should check it out!” The funny thing is most people have no clue what a blog is much less how to google for one.
“Does that mean I am higher on the geekdom scale than most?”
The therapeutic writing style I use gives me the chance to share my failures and successes with my family and friends. BUT…if someone else can read what I write and use it to better their pain or situation I am all for it. I only hope the information gleaned, while not valuable to most, assist someone who may have reached the Proverbial End-of-the-Rope. After all isn’t that what writers typically want?
Speaking of end-of-the-rope…my coffee is not working well this morning in keeping my eyelids open. Well it could be the pain medication…hehe! I better stop before I fail to make sense.
What would be your reason for writing? Have a great day!
I need to know you are awake before telling you this wonderful news.
There I was…checking my blog stats with robotic precision only to find no overwhelming increase in the views and likes. I second guess myself and hope, somewhere out in the vastness of the blogosphere, someone is relating to my words and stories. I click the notifications tab and there it was…a bright shinning beam of light!
“I just wanted to let you know, as a fan of your blog, I have nominated you for a couple of awards!”
I Never Saw It Coming!
Let’s get down to the nitty-gritty. I would like to first thank tickalongnice. The recognition from readers and bloggers is…well…wonderful!
Would you like to see the newest blog awards presented to JustBetweenCousins?
Don’t they look great? There are a few things I have to do…you know…the rules of acceptance…so here goes!
*Post the awards on blog…check
*Thank the blog/blogger for the nomination…check
*List seven things about yourself
*Nominate seven bloggers for the award
Because there are two awards that were given at the same time I do not know if I have to fulfill the requirements separately or if I can combine into one group of seven. We will see how it goes!
7 Things About Me:
1- I want to become a Studio Singer. These singers are not the recording artist but sing backup. I have resigned myself that getting a recording contract is not a possibility at my stage of life.
2- I love to communicate using movie quotes.
3- I cannot cook without sampling.
4- I am constantly learning new things and realizing I can do more than I thought I could.
5- I am not as weak as my sons think I am…but let’s just keep that juicy tid-bit between us!
6- I love asking the grocery store cashier if I qualify for the 50% off promotion. The responses I get back are mixed…with a few not-so-nice-snooty-we-don’t-have-that looks. “But it is still fun!”
7- I have an great group of friends! Several of my friends are just like me…scary as that may sound I chose to believe it is a wonderful blessing.
A big thank you to all my readers and blogging supporters. I am off to take my youngest back to school shopping. Have a great day!
With my coffee in hand I began my morning of habitual and routine actions. I checked my Facebook and posted the numerous replies…bounced over to Swagbucks and did a search for my morning swag…then the all important checking of my Blog Stats. The notifications tab was bright and starred meaning something good waited for me. My heart was near racing when I opened the tab and found a nomination for the “Sunshine Award“. With a thick cloud cover outside I still had A Little Sunshine to Start My Day!
Let me begin by thanking indrajitpatra….written from the soul. I am very honored and thank you for the nomination. Words cannot express the appreciation I feel for this acknowledgment of my blog as well as the spontaneous outburst of dancing, on my wood floors, in my fuzzy socks. “I can mark exercise off my list of things to do for the day!”
As the rules state I am to thank the blog/blogger for the nomination…
I need to answer some questions….and nominate 10 blogger/blogs for the same honor!
Once again…Thank you indrajitpatra…written from the soul for this nomination. This blog opens the heart to seek the beauty in life.
The soul-seeking questions:
Love or Money?
High Salary or Job Satisfaction?
Job satisfaction…that salary gets taxed and then there is nothing left.
Anything written by Nicholas Sparks…
Who is the Television Character you simply adore?
Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Anthony Dinozo…from NCIS! There are many others but alas…I have time constraints.
Most Christian music and Country music and anything by Josh Groban and Michael Buble’. “Quit shaking your head…I like some good old Rock and Roll too!”
Favorite type of movie?
Romantic Comedies or maybe Action Suspense…with some Horror thrown in.
Please take a few moments and explore this buffet of difference I enjoy each day. There is humor and life lessons with personality plus to be found in these blogs! As for me I am off to try and finish the decorating of my classroom for Vacation Bible School this next week. I have the beautiful Victoria Falls as one of the main scenes and will be recreating The Matterhorn Sunday after church. There will be a seating arrangement resembling an airplane facing a cockpit where another teacher will lead as the pilot… “I found out yesterday he was in the Air Force!” I will show you the pics after I finish…if the decorations are any good! HeHe! Have a great day!
And The Award Goes To…Me! The numbing realization is finally beginning to give way to a full dance of joy around my house. What an honor! I received this wonderful surprise in my little pop out comment box. “I really love this pop out box!” First things first…
I would like to thank the

So there I was…doing a blog check before Praise Team practice. The band was busy getting plugged in and setting their levels. The 3 singers…well we were just hanging out playing with our phones and checking in with families. It was after 8:00 pm my time, after midnight blog time, and I just wanted to see the final tally of the day. There was a notification! “I love notifications!” I pressed the little number and out popped the announcement.
“I have nominated your awesome blog for the VERSATILE BLOGGER AWARD!”
Isn’t it funny how we are automatically drawn to capital letters…I have to admit I re-read this pop-out several times. The goosies crawled up and down my arms and I began to dance around calling several of my friends.
