Peach State says: View From My Window!
This is the View From My Window!
Front window….The moon is still a visible orb in the morning sky!
And in the back…
The pink glow of the sunrise begins…
Just a few moments later I took this…
Time for another cup of coffee and the making of the grocery list!
“May your cup runneth over with joy, love and laughter oh, and really fabulous coffee!”

Peach State says: It’s Time For Some Normal!
What a delight the past two weeks have been. We have had snow, ice and Tornado Watches and Thunderstorms…oh and let’s not forget the Earthquake! Yep! You heard me right! And yes…we felt it shake, rattle and roll!
School has been out for Winter Break this week even though the kids were out of school four of the five days the week before due to inclement weather. I am so ready for a bit of normal!
It’s Time For Some Normal!
This has been a two week period filled with many firsts…
*More than a dusting of snow,
*Hubby home on days other than normal days off…weather related,
*Only one child in the home,
*Only one child still living…(insert chuckle) “Of course he is…”
*The youngest is beginning to follow in footsteps of older brothers by sitting in “Dad’s” office at night and talking about the day before heading off to bed!…(this is huge!)
and drum roll…..
*Letters from my son in BASIC Training!
The good news is that besides finding some normal in NEW routine I now have an address I can send letters back to my Army son! (Doing the dance of Joy!) Routines have been frozen with icy conditions for two Practices at church this month. (Okay…one of the practices was the 29th of January but that is close enough!) Ask anyone…when a set in stone routine is cancelled it can throw everything into a tail-spin!
Speaking of “Normal”…I apologize for not touching base with you this past week! I have found myself quite busy away from home and during the down time I was busy doing some neglected household chores…except for yesterday. I was dealing with a migraine and…looking a pictures online of my son’s company during BASIC trying to find one with him. “We think we found one..”
I will be getting Facebook Funnies posted later so have no fear. (Note to those who contribute…It’s Not Too Late…Post away!)
Time to give “Precious Princess” her medicine…I wrap the pills in sliced deli meats and hope my fingers remain intact!
(Note to self…buy more sliced Turkey!)

Peach State says: One Of My Favorite Things!
One Of My Favorite Things…is sitting at the table just off my kitchen with the window blinds wide open watching the falling snow! It has been falling for just a short time. The fluffy flakes are quietly filling in the rain soaked area on the ground as a slushy mix is replaced by a pillowy white covering.
The best is yet to come! The weather personalities in our area have forecasted an ice storm tonight and tomorrow. “Can you say goody?” ( please repeat the previous question using a sarcastic tone!!!)
I have had many experiences with “ice storms” and by the time I was married knew how to survive one. The longest and most memorable was in Washington State…I saw the pattern and prepared! Others were not as lucky! By the time is was dark I had my hubby home from work, 4 hours early, and food on the stove with the fire going. Hubby was thrilled to walk in to a cozy fire especially when he realized the power was out. “It stayed out for almost 45 hours!” Ahh…memories!!!
Once this event is over I will share more pics with you! “I know my friends will post some great pictures on Facebook.” (Hint…Hint…) For now I will sit back and sip on my “Oh So Wonderful Cup of Coffee Espresso” and enjoy this quiet and serene snowfall.
That didn’t last long…the youngest is up! LOL!

Peach State says: I Have Not Forgotten!
No I am not going to Florida!
No It is not snowing…here!
But…I was busy with a furnace replacement today! Good thing we had it done due to the temperature upstairs was dipping into the mid-50’s. BURR!!!
Don’t worry…I Have Not Forgotten!
Facebook Funnies will be posted tomorrow…now that I am warm!!!

Peach State says: Wow…What A Week!
Wow…What A Week!
It has been a week since I dropped off my 20 year old at the recruiter’s station. He was taken to the hotel with the other future soldiers Monday night and then bright and early, in true military time, swept off to the last beginning of a lifetime of hurry up and wait.
Meanwhile, back at the old homestead, we started our day just like every other day…except for the fact that once our youngest left for school we booked out the door and headed for the military base just south of Atlanta. ( about an hour away!) It was quite brisk and there was a chance for flurries.
According to the weather personalities around the area we were only in a Winter Weather Advisory…with no accumulation!!!!! We arrived at the base and die to the fact that my hubby had his gun with him we had to report to the security office. We drove over and began to fill out the paperwork. We were then informed that if the base closed to due inclement weather the gun would be locked away and we would not be able to get it back before leaving the base…or we could leave it in the car and park it out in front of the security building! My hubby opted for the leave it in the car. We Walked Across The Base…in the cold!
LONG STORY SHORT:
My 20 year was sworn in for the final time and we said goodbye!
We headed back toward home and encountered the white-wintry-mix. I was thrill my hubby was driving. The roads were in decline…rapidly!
By the time we got to one of the main highways the snow and ice was causing a slip-sliding mess. The upside…we made it home before midnight, the downside was the fact of 11 1/2 hours spent in a traffic jam! All the while we were stuck in traffic the kids were released from school, then the buses were cancelled with kids left at the school… You get the picture! A friend of a friend picked up our youngest and dropped him off down the street at his friends. How lucky were we to have that happen? VERY!
With Georgia being closed the Army shippers were stuck as well…Good news! They did make it to their individual bases…a couple of days later!
I took off for Nashville early Friday for a Vacation Bible School conference. Two days of classes, walking and stairs. We drove back Saturday and my chair felt so wonderful.
Life is finally…somewhat normal!
Wow…What A Week!
I have missed you all!
