Peach State says: Ridiculous Medical Answer

20131230-082346.jpg

It is sad when we call someone we are supposed to trust with our health and well-being and get nothing but a Ridiculous Medical Answer!

I have been asked to get the Flu Shot this year by my hubby! The timing was essential and I knew I needed a target date sometime next week. So I called my doctor’s office this morning to get the ball rolling and this is what happened!

The offices open at 8 AM M-F so at 8:04 this morning I called. I pressed the number for the appointment line, when prompted, and waited…and waited…and waited. 4.24 minutes later a voice came on the line. I gave my name and the greeting of “Good morning…how are you?” With the greetings out of the way I asked my question.

Do I need an appointment for the Flu Shot?

The response was yes…so I quickly asked if there were any appointments for next week. She told me that ( are you sitting down?) “The doctors are not in the office this week and you will have to come in next week to see a doctor!” I chuckled to myself….”so can I make an appointment for next week?” “I believe I just told you there are no doctors in the office this week…why don’t you go to a Minute-Clinic or something!”

Before I go any further I would like to state for the record that my doctor has been my doctor for almost 14 years! The fact that the last Flu Shot put me in the emergency room on a breathing machine and almost killed me is in my file. Also on my file is the fact that I called before Christmas and inquired about getting the shot this year after expressing my concerns. The nurse in the office told me to make sure I reminded the doctor of my concerns and that they would monitor my vitals for about 30 minutes post-Flu Shot. I felt comforted by this thought knowing that my 20 year old would be there with me should anything happen at the doctor’s office.

Now…if I could not make an appointment then why answer the appointment line! I do not understand the idiotic response much less the feeling of being shooed, like a fly, to go to a Minute-Clinic. What happened to the semi-personal replies and the semi-caring nature of the medical professionals? I think I will visit the office next week…in person…and ask that question! Maybe then I can get appointment…If The Doctors Are In The Office!

I am still stunned by this! Maybe I should just do something calming…laundry maybe?

“May your cup runneth over with joy, love and laughter oh, and really fabulous coffee!”

Peach State says: Decolorizing of the Home!

20131228-072254.jpg
It has begun…the annual Decolorization of the Home! This has also been named “Just put it in a box labeled Christmas”…Oops! I hope my son realizes that there are a few more decorations to add to the oversized bins this year!

“Mom bought a few new items this year…on sale!”

The simple, and often complicated, job of taking down the decorations gives the home a fresh and uncluttered feel as we usher in the New Year. The only drawback is the Diva-like-attitude that accompanies the repetitive picking up and placing in the bin motion. SO…being the loving mom, that I am, I have already begun taking down items and have made piles of similar decorations.

“Grab a bin and place the pile into the bin…move to the next pile….”

I will need to stress, once again, to please place the Fall and Halloween decorations on top of the Christmas decorations so that I can actually find them next year! “And please do not stack them to the ceiling where I can’t reach them!” That’s a fair request…I am Vertically Challenged!

This sad part about this is the fact that next year I will be decorating ALL BY MYSELF! “Remember my go-getter-I’ll-do-it-I-got-this-for-you son is leaving in 28 days…and counting…for the Army!” Maybe my hubby can pay the servants a little extra to do the decorating! “Wait a second….We don’t have any servants!” I know what you are thinking…What about the youngest son? If I want all of the Christmas Coffee Cups lined across the counter I will know who to call! Even though he has been here for 6 1/2 years he still has no concept of where things go…much less what a tree skirt is. “He was taking one of my tree skirts to the trash because it had a hole in it… “We had a quick lesson on hems and seams!”

20131228-075816.jpgI need to remember to grab a couple of ornaments off the tree before the “demolition squad” wakes up. There are two, in particular, that I will keep out all year long!

20131228-080308.jpgIf you look real close you will see an Orange and Blue ornament…I will proudly display it in hopes of a win in the upcoming BCS National Championship game! “Yep…it is my Auburn ornament and I do LOVE my Auburn.”

“WAR EAGLE!!!”

Well, time to make another pile…

“May your cup runneth over with joy, love and laughter oh, no really fabulous coffee!”

Peach State says: The Simple Joy of Coffee!

20131227-080523.jpg
There was tingling chill as I reached the kitchen this morning in my bare feet. The flick of a switch sheds light on my morning as I press the VIP switch “ON” and proceed to clad my shivering toes in warm socks. I finish and return to the routinely important process and wait for it… I pause and breathe in….Ahh!

“The Simple Joy of Coffee!”

A genuine-shoulder-relaxing-scent wafts it’s way capturing all of my senses.

20131227-081300.jpg

It’s true! Very few words are spoken in the first 15-20 minutes of the morning….
Translation:Hubby and I are too busy sipping and enjoying the first tastes as we finally come to the realization another day has started! Sadly there are days when we cannot seem to get enough coffee and we find ourselves a bit out of sorts! ( What? I was trying to say it nicely!). The neatest thing happened Christmas evening…my hubby, feeling quite neglected by his oversized coffee cup, found his way into the kitchen…ALL BY HIMSELF! He pressed the required buttons and filled the correct filters and came away with a flavorful brew. “Now if I could just get him to possibly make me a cup when he strolls into the kitchen….” (Whack!) It’s okay…I am awake now!

I will be content to making my own…whenever I want a smile-provoking-cup-of-caffeinated-warmth!

20131227-082909.jpg

Enjoy and repeat! Ahh, The Simple Joy of Coffee!

Is your cup still full? Do you need more? “I do!”

“May your cup runneth over with joy, love and laughter oh, and really fabulous coffee!”

20131226-084746.jpgThe tree, brightly lit, stands proudly with memory filled decorations filling the branches. The only difference is the barren space beneath the tree! Christmas was wonderful and family time was especially fulfilling this year…and now we start the countdown!
The countdown we have is not the traditional one but that discussion will be for another day…for now we will continue with the weekly countdown to this week’s countdown:

If you are celebrating Christmas then…you understand the inside joke of a cat in the tree! If you are a mom well…you are already tired and have a list organizing your other lists! Me…I have all the gifts wrapped and under the tree, pies are made, casseroles are prepared and ready to be baked…Oh crap! I just found my list for tomorrow. With that being said I had better get ready…feet up and time for closing my eyes for a second!

Before I leave you I have a gift from Grumpy Cat!

Peach State says: What Happened To Relaxing?

20131217-075027.jpg
The on-the-go-non-stop-week finally ended Sunday evening with the Christmas music…OR at least what I thought!

What Happened To Relaxing?

The irritating chore bug bit me yesterday…
It was one of those days where my ADHD was in full swing as I started gathering the overwhelming amount of wire coat-hangers from the closet…
I could hang up clothes…
This could be washed…
Start the laundry…
I should get the plastic dry-cleaners bags and take them to the garbage can before the garbage is picked up…
I should run these bathroom rugs down and wash them…
I can clean the bathroom floor…
Why don’t I clean the bathroom counter and put things away…
Wow, I should put my short clothes in the bottom rack….

Well you get the idea! It was not pretty, especially when you consider the other normal chores throughout the rest of the house. I found myself sitting down about 4 PM and realizing the items not completed on my To-Do list! You know what that means…I have more To-Do today! “I am so thrilled…NOT!” Oh! Remember when I said there would be one more practice for Christmas Eve music…make that three! And that is not counting the different groups…Ladies Quartet, Ladies Trio ( which is the Ladies Quartet minus one who will with family Christmas Eve), Mixed Quartet and the Mixed Ensemble. Fortunately the Ladies Quartet is singing Sunday morning and the others will be Christmas Eve! That means at 5:15, or there abouts, the musical performance portion of my holiday season will be over and I will be free to…COOK! But that is another post!!!!

This is the last week of school and my 20 year old is helping my parents for the next week. So with a quiet and empty house I shall begin my day! “Who am I kidding?” I have already folded the clothes from the dryer and put the breakfast dishes in the dishwasher and started it. I need to wrap 10 more presents for my hubby’s office staff and then get ready to head out for one of those practices at 10:00 am. Who knows…maybe I could-just-possibly-if-I-time-it-right manage to relax before the youngest gets home!

20131217-081657.jpg
Where can I find a vacuum like that? To quote several friends…

“SQUIRREL!!!”

Looks like my ADHD is alive and functioning today as well….”Lucky Me!”

“May your cup runneth over with joy, love and laughter oh, and really fabulous coffee!”

Peach State says: But Then Again It’s Monday!

20131209-073511.jpg
The noisy clicking and clacking of raindrops seem unending while the splatter and splash leaves a visible sogginess on my screens. What a lovely day…to bad I have to go out in this cold, miserable rain.

But Then Again It’s Monday!

I sat down this morning to find myself with a checklist of sorts. My calendar, open to this weeks events, was already full as I added in the preparation To-Do list! I have something important every night…but tonight! “Of course I should consider the staying home and relaxing IMPORTANT as spending time with family is a high priority!”

Monday:
Usual morning routine,
Prepare to close E’s Design Party,
Prepare for C’s Design Party,
Go to the bank,
Routine cleaning and laundry,
Plan dinner,
Cook dinner,
Same old…same old…,
Goodnight!

Tuesday:
Usual morning routine,
Final prep for C’s Design Party,
Get Crock-Pot Dinner started early,
Minor daily clean,
C’s Design Party,
Home about 9pm and relax,
Goodnight!

Wednesday:
(Here is where the week starts getting a bit hairy!)
Usual routine for hubby’s day off,
Plan and cook dinner,
Leave for various practices…Ladies Quartet, Christmas Cantata, Praise Team,
Arrive home about 10 PM and put feet up for an hour,
Goodnight!

Thursday:
(You know the pattern for the daily grind so let’s just skip to the good stuff!)
Prepare to close C’s Design Party,
Go to the bank,
Get youngest off the bus, cleaned and dressed in presentable attire,
Leave for Hubby’s Work party,
Back home about 9:30PM,
Put wired 13 year old in bed after shower and relax for a few minutes,
Goodnight!

Friday:
After drinking double the coffee I will…
Close C’s Design Party,
Plan and cook dinner in my trusty Crock-Pot,
Leave as early as I can for the Music Ministry Christmas Party….( I am so excited…I just can hide it….I love this Party!!!)
Come home and explain to hubby why I am later than usual!
Goodnight!

Saturday:
Early morning Dress-Rehearsal at 10,

Uh oh….no football game to watch! ( running around the house doing a bad “Home Alone” imitation!)
My team did win their pivotal games and just won the SEC Championship…next the National Championship!! “Please excuse my bragging!”
Anyway…Don’t panic…I am sure I will find something to fill my time with!
Dinner and relaxation,
Goodnight!

Sunday:
Third Sunday…
(This is the busiest of Sundays and a few extra kinks have been inserted into the schedule!)
Up and out for early sound-check…church…home? I may just stay with friends….”hmmm”
(Hubby may be driving our 20 year old to my parent’s for his visit. My 20 year old will be staying with them while my 23 year old travels out of town with his job! This will be good for many reasons…my parent’s health is not good and they need someone who can drive and lift…also with my 20 year old leaving for the Army shortly after Christmas they will be able to spend so quality time with each other!)
Singing at the Lodge at 4:00 PM,
Back to church for evening sound-check followed by Christmas Cantata,
Home to put feet up…oops I forgot about dinner!
Goodnight!

I am exhausted just thinking about it…not to mention the little odds and ends not included! Wait a minute…the rain stopped! NOT…it is just a lighter rain now! I had better begin my day and let you get back to your’s!

“May your cup runneth over with joy, love and laughter oh, and really fabulous coffee!”
