I want to start by saying ….I Love My Sons!…BUT! They just do not follow through with the chore they are assigned. I find myself going behind them to clean correctly. No…I am not a OCD task-master…I just, as you know, enjoy a clean house. Why can they know what they a supposed to do and leave so much left undone? I have confidently researched this problem and found it to be almost epidemic in proportion. POIs can be found in every family with teenagers.
I am not alone!
However to prove my point, humorously, I have included something sent to me yesterday. Please understand I found this slightly true…and humorous!
This is me…a mom…“Going Out On a Limb…A Mother And Her POIs!”
Americans With No Abilities Act
“President Barack Obama and the Democratic Senate are considering sweeping legislation that will provide new benefits for many Americans. The Americans With No Abilities Act is being hailed as a major legislative goal by advocates of the millions of Americans who lack any real skills or ambition.
“Roughly 50 percent of Americans do not possess the competence and drive necessary to carve out a meaningful role for themselves in society,” said California Sen. Barbara Boxer. “We can no longer stand by and allow People of Inability (POI) to be ridiculed and passed over. With this legislation, employers will no longer be able to grant special favors to a small group of workers, simply because they have some idea of what they are doing.”
In a Capitol Hill press conference, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid pointed to the success of the U.S. Postal Service, which has a long-standing policy of providing opportunity without regard to performance. At the state government level, the Department of Motor Vehicles also has an excellent record of hiring Persons with No Ability (63 percent).
Under the Americans With No Abilities Act, more than 25 million mid-level positions will be created, with important-sounding titles but little real responsibility, thus providing an illusory sense of purpose and performance.
Mandatory non-performance-based raises and promotions will be given to guarantee upward mobility for even the most unremarkable employees. The legislation provides substantial tax breaks to corporations that promote a significant number of Persons of Inability (POI) into middle-management positions, and give a tax credit to small and medium-sized businesses that agree to hire one clueless worker for every two talented hires.
Finally, the Americans With No Abilities Act contains tough new measures to make it more difficult to discriminate against the non-abled, banning, for example, discriminatory interview questions such as, “Do you have any skills or experience that relate to this job?”
“As a non-abled person, I can’t be expected to keep up with people who have something going for them,” said Mary Lou Gertz, who lost her position as a lug-nut twister at the GM plant in Flint, Mich., due to her inability to remember righty tighty, lefty loosey. “This new law should be real good for people like me. I finally have job security.” With the passage of this bill, Gertz and millions of other untalented citizens will finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Said Sen. Dick Durbin: “As a senator with no abilities, I believe the same privileges that elected officials enjoy ought to be extended to every American with no abilities. It is our duty as lawmakers to provide each and every American citizen, regardless of his or her inadequacy, with some sort of space to take up in this great nation and a good salary for doing so.”
We have kick-started this program by having a POI in the White House.
Have a great day!
WOW!. This Red Tape is Dulling My Scissors!
Long story short…the benefits we were supposed to receive were sent to the original holder of the funds. They got twice as much! I went to change the name on a document for our adopted son and was told he had benefits that were being held by a certain agency. Information was updated and changed so that our son would get the benefits owed him. “Can you say braces…paid for up front?” We waited…waited…called…waited…called…waited…called ( “It will take several months to change everything over!”)
Sorry, I said long story short! My hubby and I were informed, via income tax information, that we had received the $$$ already. “Uh…nope!” So I have been dealing with the lovely “Red Tape” all morning only to find out that the party I need to speak with are not in the office for another 3 hours.
This mommy is not a Happy Camper this morning.
I wish I could work their hours and get paid $$$ to make mistakes. I am off to rearrange my day.
Have a great day!
A dear friend shared this with me…it describes her to a tee! The funny thing is that most of us bounce around our day in flip-flop-pinball fashion. Being reminded of the things we need to accomplish by accidental occurrences. “Mother’s Vicious Circle”. Please read the following to understand what I am talking about…then Like if you have ever had a day like this…or if you survive daily in this same manner.
If You Give A Mom A Muffin
by Beth Brubaker
If you give a mom a muffin,
she’ll want a cup of coffee to go with it.
She’ll pour herself some.
Her three year-old will come and spill the coffee.
Mom will wipe it up.
Wiping the floor, she will find dirty socks.
She’ll remember she has to do laundry.
When she puts the laundry into the washer,
she’ll trip over shoes and bump into the freezer.
Bumping into the freezer will remind her she has to plan supper.
She will get out a pound of hamburger.
She’ll look for her cookbook
(How to Make 101 Things With a Pound of Hamburger.)
The cookbook is sitting under a pile of mail.
She will see the phone bill, which is due tomorrow.
She will look for her checkbook.
The checkbook is in her purse,
which is being dumped out by her two year-old.
Then she’ll smell something funny.
She’ll change the two year-old.
While she is changing the two year-old, the phone will ring.
Her five year-old will answer and hang up.
She’ll remember she was supposed to phone a friend
to come over for coffee.
Thinking of coffee will remind her that she was going to have a cup.
She will pour herself some more.
And chances are,
if she has a cup a coffee,
her kids will have eaten the muffin that went with it.
So did you see yourself in this passage? Do you know what it is like to go through your day this crazy-non-stop-way? I sure do!
Have a great day!
As I cleaned up the dinner dishes, left behind by my 19 year old son, and loaded the dishwasher I caught this glow out of the corner of my eye! “Coral Blush Surprise!”
The brightest pink just beyond the trees…I needed my camera which was upstairs…so I grabbed my phone. I quickly went through the motions of changing the flash on my phone so it would not reflect on the window. “What? My sock-less footsies cringed at the possibility of standing on the cold-wet-bone-chilling deck.”
The sun was moving quickly this morning…hurriedly rising behind the left over clouds in the sky. The bright fierce pink-coral faded to a sweet blush and I returned to my daily same-old-same-old.
Take a moment to enjoy the beauty around you everyday. It gives us time to breathe before racing on with our day.
Have a great day!
Finished monthly grocery shopping
Put groceries away
Divided meat into freezer bags
Feet up and covered by a blanket
Only having to entertain one son…whew!
Things could definitely be worse…but the power is still on! Yea!
Well the movie is back on…gotta go!
Have a great day!
Last Saturday I was asked to share my recipe for the Dump Cake I served.
I warned them it was not the usual recipe and that they may not like the list of ingredients.
With each new bite their need-to-know-mentality insisted. Well here it is…Cooking On The Lighter Side !
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
(I recommend using a 9×9 square glass baking dish or a pan close in size)
Lightly grease the pan
Dump a can of crushed pineapple (not drained) and spread evenly
Dump a can of lightly drained cherries (the ones packed in water) and space them around evenly
Dump a Sugar-Free Yellow cake mix and spread evenly
Pour a half a cup of melted Unsalted butter evenly over the top of the cake mix.
I bake it until the cake mix is not gooey! I know that sounds slightly childish but I was at a loss for words to fit the description. I cooked mine for about 45-50 minutes but I was cooking two…one for my family and one to share.
The wonderful thing about this recipe is the fact that my hubby could not tell the difference. He loved it…but he did have his with a scoop of ice cream. I love this recipe because of the versatility it allows. It is a great breakfast dish for special occasions as well as a warm dessert dish. I know some of you might remember my posting this recipe before…but being the friend I am…I am sharing it again. But there is something new I found the other day…a Chocolate Dump Cake!. Do you want the recipe? I took a screen shot so I would not forget about it. It looks wonderful and easy! Needless to say I will try this recipe after I tweak it a bit…then I will share what I did as I do love Cooking On The Lighter Side!
Have a wonderful time trying the recipe. Have a great day!
I was ready! My longtime companion, stood empty for the second time, awaiting the bold-rich-frothless-brew. Long story short…I was having a party and was awaiting the arrival of my longtime friend and consultant up-line. My guests would be arriving about an hour later for my Launch Party. My longtime friend texted me, in a pleading manner, to have coffee ready for her.
“Me have coffee ready!”
Well it has been a long time and we have only recently reconnected. I told her I would have a latte’ for her.
Once she unloaded and we set up the display…it was time to relax and enjoy the simple concept of being together with a good cup of coffee. My guests started to arrive and as much as they love coffee I knew to have tea ready as well as juice. “One even came in with her specialty coffee…decaf!“. BUT!…that was not the end of the coffee story. “Coffee Takes Center Stage!”
I have told you how much I love coffee…many times! I have told you how many of my friends love coffee…many times! Yet, how many times have I told you that I understand using coffee to cleanse the scent pallet? Because of the type of party it was I was prepared and placed the rich aroma filled container on the table. My guests perused the table filled with platters of scents. “The tingling noses found the personal favorites as the wish lists began to grow.” The fragrances began to smell the same as I remind them to experience the cleanse and hand them the coffee container.
“That’s two uses of coffee!”
We rotated around the table as we laughed and enjoyed the stories from our friendships. “These were friends from different parts of my life…and none of them had ever met before!” I reached over and introduced the last platter of scents.
“Use number three!”
“Did y’all experience this fragrance called “Coffee Tree”?” “No…pass it over!”, “Really…Sounds wonderful…I love coffee!” I giggled on the inside as I passed the scent around. My friends were as giddy as I was about coffee! Coffee stories circulated between us as we inhaled the bold-rich-scent sample.
Long story shorter…If memory serves me correct…I believe everyone ordered at least one of the Coffee Tree fragrance bars. I even mixed it with a spicy blend of grapefruit and oranges. WOW! “You guessed it! I know what scents I am buying!”
I love my coffee and love to exploit the rich aroma every chance I get.
“Hmm…I may need more coffee to help my grammatical deficient sentence structure!”
I promise to work on my grammar while I enjoy my next latte’…and as I head off to face the rest of my day. I will keep my eyes open for other uses for coffee…after all…Coffee Takes Center Stage as I try and function day to day? I hope you accomplish everything you set out to do today.
Have a great day!
I have been in a motivated, focused daze today…and I am sorry. BUT…now with all of the lovely chores completed…my yes can’t stay open. I don’t think there is enough coffee
To hold these sad-little-droopy-eye-ball-covers.
Garfield is so strong!
But I am WEAK today…BUT… “What A Ride!”
Dinner has been started and TKD is on the schedule for this afternoon.
Have a great day!
