Peach State says: Wait! I’m Not Ready For A New Year!

I have some good news and some bad news…
The good news:

Tomorrow is a new day and a New Year!

The bad news:

Today is Monday “OMG it’s Monday!” Could someone please stop this ever-spinning-hamster-wheel and let me do the things I need to do first. I need to finish my oversized cup of espresso, move the laundry, clean out the dishwasher, prepare and inhale another cup of coffee (espresso), and take my 19 year old to the dentist. “Sadly…these are just the items on my To-Do List before 8:30 this morning. You should see my continuous-stream-of-activities left on the handy-dandy-iPhone-yellow-pad. There is to much to be completed in the short 24 hour day! Wait…I am not ready to face what lies ahead. “Wait! I’m Not Ready For A New Year!

Time ticks very quickly by…as the excited yet annoying crowd counts down. The only problem is the fact that it is still early. I sit here trying to stuff these numerous thoughts into a sensical pattern while keeping my eye on the clock. Movement upstairs is a good sign but warns me that I need to get ready too. Today is starting out in the typical Monday blur which somehow feels comforting. Unusual stresses have attacked the sane front this week…death of a friends child, hospitalization of sweet member of the church, car accident last night of a dear couple in the church as they were going home from the child’s funeral visitation…

These tolls of life weigh heavy on many. These things mixed with the world events multiply the tension and stress in normal everyday life.

One thing at a time…breathe…sip…breathe…sip!

Time for me to face the next item on my list…I need to get ready to leave. I promise I will continue this espresso-driven-event-filled day. Until then…start working on your resolutions…

Resolutions…I need to do that!

Once I return home and settle in with another cup of coffee…espresso…I will delve into this topic…using as much humor as I can.

resolutions…really?” I will deal with that tomorrow!

Talk soon!

What is this? My 22 year old is taking my 19 year old to the dentist and the garbage is already out…call me giddy! I have some extra time….TIME!… ( Excuse me…I am doing the dance of joy!)
Moving a few things around and changing of the To-Do List is one of my specialities. My Shoot-from-the-hip-ADHD-mentality is a definite plus and one that I enjoy using. “Keep ’em guessing or as I like to call it…Amazing my hubby with my incredible abilities!”

I can leisurely finish my duties this morning and head out to buy the last needed items for the celebration tonight and the important re-supplying of the coffee pods for hubby. I can then return home and begin the mixing, rolling, stirring, baking and storing of the individual snacks for tonight and tomorrow.

Thought…Everything returns to normal on Wednesday…including choir practice and praise team practice which we have not had since November! I am so ready for that. Sorry! My ADHD is working overtime with lack of schedule.

The shortened check list is putting a smile on my face, for a split second, as my 12 year old begins to clean out the dishwasher. ( This is one of his chores which he has NOT done in many days…and he only started to clean it out after I, reading/proofing this post out loud, read the part about the dishwasher.) “I may have to re-think his chore list…but that can wait for another day!”

I will relax once these tasks are completed and the table of goodies is set out. Our little family celebration will include a movie and the traditional Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve. We will enjoy each other as we usher in this New Year of 2013 all while hoping for a better year. I hope you have a wonderful time tonight with your family and friends! Make a good and lasting memory! We will!

With love and hope in my heart…Happy New Year and Have a great day!

2012 in review

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 7,800 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 13 years to get that many views.

Peach State says: New Years On My Mind

If only that were a true statement! I enjoy my coffee, as you well know, and have the Heavenly Brew in my handy-dandy-oversized-cup most of my waking day. “I know…the statement refers to my personal world…family, home, children.” (uh huh!)
Posters and pictures like this have really circulated on my Facebook this past week as we prepare for the New Year. Habits, traditions, hopes and dreams…are being brought up and suggested…it is time to take a moment and reflect…Yes! New Years On My Mind!

This year will be different…Right?

Soo…All I have to do is not be a mess and I won’t be exhausted!
Well that would make for some interesting blogs.
I have plenty of areas that need my attention…“Quit agreeing with me!” Priorities need to be shuffled and that may mean letting somethings go. “Don’t panic…it won’t be my music or friends!” A different order to life, including the children and what they are responsible for, may come into play. I can tell you now…they will not like the changes.

This will take some thought and a little idea gathering. Goody! I love idea gathering…it means time with my dear friends. “Do I have any takers?” Great minds do tend to think alike…hehe…but they also come up with some of the best solutions to life’s little problems.

Speaking of those problems…it is time for me to head out the door and and begin my trek of duties. All is done inside…laundry, dishwasher, counter tops, even dinner has been started. I hope this does not take to long!

Please send your suggestions in for how to approach this New Year! Have a great day!

Peach State says: Taking the Christmas Decorations Down

The fragrant scents of spices and apple fill the emptied shell called a home. The tragic end of the cozy mixture of glowing lights and shining ornaments has ushered in widened pathways and visible spaciousness. Without any prompting my sons undertook the chore of “Taking the Christmas Decorations Down!”

I dusted the large table, against the wall, and quickly lit the two candles sitting on the table. “This really helped me cope with the decoration devoid expanse. “I apologize for the slightly dramatic tone…I like cozy!” I should be able to put my house completely back together by tomorrow.

Let me explain!:
The boxes come up.
The boxes are filled.
The boxes are stacked.
The boxes are taken back to the storage room.
The bare emptiness is left for me to fill.

After supervising the packing away of the seasonal-memory-filled-treasures; I was left with changing of the tablecloths and preparing for the New Year. Greenery and color schemes have to be changed out…pictures replaced in their correct places, spring cleaning in December…I have my work cut out for me today. The good news is that it is almost done, no thanks to the deserters who seemed to vanished once the last box was taken downstairs. (typical) I deserve a break…a good movie should do nicely! After all…I need to get ready to make dinner in a little while. “MAN oh MAN…I need a vacation!” Suggestions?

I hope you get everything accomplished you have to do today…Have a great day!

Peach State says: Oops!…The Mayan Calendar Said Today Was Facebook Funnies!

Sooo…the Mayan Calendar did not predict “End Of the World” and it may have predicted the “End of Twinkies”… I can’t help but wonder how set in stone the calendar really is. I have to confess I may have translated it wrong…“Oops! The Mayan Calendar Said Today is Facebook Funnies!”

Christmas is over…well for the most part! :

With a little more attitude please!

I can see my boys setting this trap and then one grabbing Santa’s Sack and the other seeing if Santa is dead so he could put n the suit. Lol!

My family slept in this year…no more jumping on the bed!

I want to state, for the record, that I did not play with that dead-stinky-thang.. before wrapping it.

And last but not least:

Christmas may be over but there is still a bit of Wintry Humor…

This week’s Blog Worthy Award Winner will help us get back to some type of normalcy!:

Have a Great Day! “Oh Yea!” and Have a Happy New Year!

Peach State says: Let It Snow!!!

It started out just like any other day-after-Christmas here in Georgia except for the fact of the severe-wind-warning and the dropping temperatures. Well here we go…out to accomplish the impossible…an exchange at the local open mall…“Not that impossible!” The exchange was not accomplished due to the store sold out of the specific item wanted and the truck is not coming until tomorrow. So out the door I go realizing the temperature had dropped in the short time I was in the store. I checked my weather app and got a surprised…three degrees colder.

Once on the road the sprinkles of rain began to hit my windshield in that unique pre-icy way. My bones shook…my stomach craved a big bowl of windy-day-comfort-food.. I arrived at my next stop on my list and stepped out of the car. There it was…SNOW!…well it was spitting the tiny-minuscule-microscopic-bits-of-icy-white-stuff. Now that I am home and warm…I have only one thing to say…Let It Snow!!!
I could stand to see some of the soft-fluffy-bits-of-heaven just about now, as I finish out the holidays, but I will share more about that next week.

I will put my feet up and enjoy a lovely cup of Dark Chocolate with a shot ( or three) of espresso in the mix. Do you want some? Let me know no I will make one for you!

Have a great day!

Peach State says: Over The River and Through The Woods

Today is the day…I load up 3 of the 4 boys and head south. It is not that long of a journey. It’s not really a journey at all. We will however go “Over The River and Through The Woods” to get to my parents home. It will a short trip (sadly) as we will come home later today.
As I have mentioned before…my siblings and I serve in many aspects of our individual church music ministries. We all need to be at our own churches for the Christmas Services.

I need to finish getting the boys ready… “You would think that 22, 19 and 12 year olds could do this…but!” A Mother’s Job Is Never Done! I will probably need to wrap my 22 year old’s gifts up for him because he needs to complete a watch. (He is a watch-maker and has to do a service on a customers’s watch!). So much still to do and where is the time going? Sorry! I don’t have time to answer that question!

I hope you travel well…Have a great day!

Peach State says: Where’s My Tape?

The stage is set as the presents, all neatly wrapped and decorated with frilly bows, are laid below the welcoming tree.

I have not been able to buy anything till now and have not begun to wrap. I am so behind my typical routine. It is not my fault! And NOOOO…it was not due to the Mayan Calendar. I did not put off the exciting-adventure-filled-rush-of-search-and-seizure-and-pay-through-the-nose-hunt-for-the-perfect-gift because I wanted to…I was just running-around-with-my-head-cut-off-in-search-of-a-living-money-tree. I accept the fact that I am not alone in this situation this year. I understand those who have chosen to…”How did they put it?”…reconnect with the meaning behind the season. They simply chose to lessen the stress stimulated by the hustle and bustle of the Christmas Season. “I can honestly say that 99% of those I have heard say that did not have children living at home.” The 1% has a college age child looking for a job!

Back to me! I did a quick inventory, before heading out yesterday, making a mental note of supplies on hand:

Paper…yes, could use a bit more!
Ribbon…yes, grab some curling ribbon!
Name Tags…yes

“Where’s My Tape?”

Everything was bought yesterday, including the elusive tape, and placed in the hidden away out-of-mind-out-of-sight grotto called my office. I was prepared to start the overwhelming joy this morning…BUT…

“Honey! I need you to buy gifts for the salesmen and the managers!”

So I will head back out in search of the perfect man gift And then back home to begin wrapping. The gifts for my hubby’s co-workers will be first followed by my parents gifts. “We are heading down to see them tomorrow.” I will plant myself in the middle of the floor and proceed to manipulate the rolls of wrapping paper that are longer than my arms.

I recognize that look…she is thinking “Where’s My Tape?”

I will take heart knowing that it could be much worse than it is this year. Everything is normally shaped and easy to wrap. No unique-hard-to-disguise presents this year. I will probably feel much better after wrapping a few of them…my office is a bit on the crowded side right now. My youngest is up and moving around which translates into…”Do you want to go shopping with me?”
Two of my sons will be at home but it will be easier and less stressful to just take the youngest with me.

I need to get ready so I can get back before dark! Thankfully it is not pouring rain like yesterday…just a windchill in the low twenties!
Free Coffee Certificate…yes…good thing! I will need to hydrate!

Crud…Where Are My Gloves?

So much to do…and I am running out of time!
Have you bought everything? Have you wrapped everything? Is your Christmas stage set? If not…you better hurry up!

Have a great day!

Peach State says: Ho Ho Ho…It’s Facebook Funnies!

What snow? Chilly yes…But no snow here!

Welcome to my Pre-Christmas status update! Well…not mine personally although I have shared a few. My friends have been very busy this past week as the anticipation of Christmas has almost reached a fever-pitched level. I hope you find something to make you chuckle and share.
“Ho Ho Ho…It’s Facebook Funnies!”

Please refrain from agreeing with this…I might have too!

I saw this picture and then as I was driving home one night I saw the same type Santa in a yard…the funny thing was the fact that it was pointed towards the neighbors house.

Confession: I saw this shirt and took a pic. I then sent the pic to “Our Mutual Cat Loving Friend” with the caption ( What do you think? Choir Party?) HeHe…she though I should.

“Honesty is the best policy….Mom said so!”

Cats and Christmas Trees:

We humans have been known to outsmart the feline species on occasions.

“What? Can’t I enjoy the splendid beauty up close?”

I would be tempted to believe this poor dog…look at those sad eyes…

The caption to this status update was…”the Elf on the shelf tried to take my son’s Christmas Tree Cake and Minnie caught him…just in time!”

“But it is Tacky Sweater Season!”

Almost brought a tear to my eye…”I said almost!”

Christmas Carols Anyone?:

This week I have 2 Blog Worthy Award Winners:

I laughed and laughed…and I was not the only one!

Dang cats…always blaming the poor innocent doggies! Lol!

Friendly Reminder!:
Let’s not forget the Mayan Calendar…12-21-2012:

Practical Jokers in Early Civilizations!

Can’t take it with you!

I am sure to have a few more Seasonal Funnies for next week…but for now I will say from my house to yours “Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!” Enjoy your time with families and friends…share some laughter and make wonderful memories. Have a great day!
