Peach State says: Moon River!

A wonderful entertainer passed away this week…
I recently mentioned hearing the song “Moon River” and singing along with it to the surprise of my youngest. The beautiful melody flows at a peaceful pace transporting the listener to a quiet standing-at-the-edge-barefoot dream scene.

Here is a video link of Moon River! I hope you take a moment to hear it!

Andy Williams will truly missed!

Thank you for letting me remember and Have a great day!

Peach State says: Breakfast Comfort Food!

Yummy for the tummy! I just have to share something I found the other day while doing my semi-monthly grocery shopping! I was so excited and could not wait to try them!

My hubby has oatmeal 99.99999% of the time for breakfast but not today. I hauled out the toaster and opened the package and plopped in four slices. I gathered the other ingredients…the cinnamon sugar butter

AND…the Apple Butter Jam we bought on our trip to Tennessee.

Over the top? Not in the least! The butter alone was wonderful on the toasted slice of flavor swirled bread…but add the delectable spicy blend of the Apple Butter Jam and “wham!”…my taste buds did the dance of joy! So which flavor bread did I choose for the initial taste test?

“I guess I need to buy more and put it in the freezer!”

I can’t wait to try the Pumpkin Spice bread…Who knows? A nice sweet bread with dinner might be a tasty change…I will let you know the results at that time. For now I will slowly enjoy my coffee and the remaining minutes of the morning. Have a great day!

Peach State says: Bring On The Facebook Funnies!

How many times has that happened to us…you would think by now that we would have grown up enough to not channel the voices in our head that belong to the different animated characters.

Let’s get started…Bring On The Facebook Funnies!:

In some families this is called “a lead foot”.

Speaking as a mother of two who waiting all night in line…this statement is the absolute truth!

Okay…may I just say…”Gross!”

Well enough said…time for some sweet, cuddly pics!

This is for those of you who may have missed the “Talk like a Pirate Day” last week.

I need to teach my “Precious Princess” to mime…her whinny begging is getting old!

There is always that one friend!

AND…(drum roll…) the Blog Worthy Award Winner:

This are the very words repeated on Monday nights…at Basketball practice….okay so there are a couple of us saying these words while wishing for a Cheeseburger!

I hope you found a smile today…if you did make sure you share it!

Have a great day!

Peach State says: What A Way To Wake Up!

I don’t know about you…but seeing a shooting star is something I have always wanted to see.
This morning, as usual, I stepped out onto the front porch with my Precious Princess in full heavy-eyed-robotic-state. The day was pleasantly crisp and fresh as my eyes began to open. Brightly scattered stars filled the morning sky as a lone early bird sounded it’s morning greeting. Then…all of the sudden….a lone Shooting Star raced against the speckled backdrop. A smile filled my face as I gazed across the sky in hopes of seeing another.

All I can say is “WOW!”What A Way To Wake Up!

Have a great day!

Peach State says: Seasons…They Are Changing!

Today is the day I have been waiting for…as have many of my friends.

Seasons…They Are Changing!

But you already know that!
BUT…something did happen, for the first time in my life, on Saturday. Saturday was the first official day of Fall and I was greeted, by a BFF, with “Happy Fall!” (Given the fact that I am slightly over 29ish and enjoy the change of seasons and love any reason to creatively greet people…can you believe I have never said “Happy Fall!”?) My Facebook has been lined with updates about the weather forecasts and the drop in temperatures. We hit the 40’s this morning! But before the ticker-tape parade begins we will rebound back into the mid-70’s this afternoon. “Welcome to Georgia!” I apologize for our giddy-gush over the season change…

The festive fall decorations are spreading throughout the neighborhoods with the occasional scarecrow and Halloween themed yard. Oh…and don’t forget the comfort foods…

We, my family, enjoyed our first Caramel Apples of the season last night. “We have a couple left over…any takers?” I love living in north Georgia and having the Apple Orchards so close…Now if I could just plan a time to go with a couple of friends!
My hubby found some Apple Donuts yesterday…I may just have to have one of those but for now I will stand firm and strong. “But not for long…my stomach is growling just thinking about eating me of them!”

My youngest has been trying to wear his long-sleeved shirts for about a week and wanted to wear his jacket the other day when the temperatures were in the high 50’s…I just smiled and told him “NO!”. I let him wear his jacket today…Funny how he was born in the Pacific Northwest and finds that the 40’s are (how did he put it?) freezing! Maybe he will grow out of that before High School!

Well my back door is open allowing the cool crisp temperature to flow into my family room.

News Flash: No fuzzy socks on my feet!

I hope you enjoy your day and find something in the local weather to smile about. Have a great day…and oh yeah…”Happy Fall from Georgia!”

Peach State says: You Know Those Words Too!

If I am going to be in the car…I am going to sing along with the radio! “Who doesn’t?”
The fun thing about this is disturbing the children. The different styles of music available on Sirius XM is enough to blow their mind…BUT…when parents start singing along to Rock n Roll our boys take to picking up their proverbial-picket-signs.

The newest statement came from our youngest. (He is adopted and has only been with us 5 years now!). He is still learning about us and well…we do have fun showing him how diverse we really are.
Sooo…let me set up the scenario for you. It was just the two of us in the car and I was not in the mood for my regular channels sooo…I flipped over to Margaritaville and Sinatra. Two channels that incorporate beachy music and good old standards. “I love the standards…and Michael Buble’ and Frank Sinatra are just two of my favorites.” I switched between the two not liking the artist on the beachy channel and landed on “Moon River” and started singing along. All of the sudden this voice, clear as a bell, chimed in from the backseat! “You Know Those Words Too!”

I peeked back and shock and surprise filled his face and I kept singing. After the song finished I told him about the time spent with my grandparents and how I would watch my grandmother’s sister and her husband dance to songs like this. The concept was foreign to him…I thought for a moment and said…”They would do the same type dances you see on “Dancing with the Stars” and that is called Ballroom dancing!” He threw his hands in the air and said…”Oh great, you have dancers in your family too!” I explained that a true love of music includes many, many different types of music and a respect or appreciation for the differences. “But how do you remember all the words and the names and information of the people singing?” I smiled and told him that as you get older your brain just makes room for the important things. He laughed and said “Well that makes since because you are so old.”

“Don’t worry…I set him straight about that statement very quickly…besides I am not old!”
And because I am not old I will not say anything further about this subject matter!
He was quiet the rest of the ride. Ahhh…peace and quiet! Works every time! Hehe!

What type of music do you flip between? Do you sing along for pure enjoyment or to mess with those in the car with you? Both…I would say!

Well a basketball game is calling so I must close…Have a great day!

Peach State says: This Is How It Goes!

The Critter Retrieval Swat Team has come and gone. I was lucky to finally get in touch with the original business I called. The second one I contacted today was going to cost $385 just to come out and go into the attic and put a cage down. There was a fee for each critter caught.. I am not going to pay that much…I would buy a cage or two and have my son put it in the attic. FYI: the first company is charging us $85 to start and $25 for each critter caught. He also said it was a new visitation. No nests! “I am relieved!”

My Techno-Geek son has not slept since waking up yesterday morning…he has been running between the AT&T store his I.T. Job and the Apple Store.

“All he would say is not to ask…and I am tired!”

Dinner is made and clothes are done. I hope you had a great day!

Peach State says: Friday Recap…

Oh the joys of Friday…yeah, who am I kidding? I have already cancelled an appointment today because of the to-do list carry overs. The good news is that no doctors or dentists were set for the calendar today. There is no money to go grocery shopping today…”I am a little bummed about that, but I can do with what I have…hopefully!” Yep…nothing to do but play catch-up!

Friday Recap!

First on the list was to contact a service to remove the pesky pest using its vicious, monster claws, in my attic. I called the service I had used before and unfortunately, to no avail, did not hear back from them…”You’re cut!” So being the type of person I am…(please keep your chuckle filled thought about the type of personality to yourself!)…I quickly investigated the surf-able subject to find another critter collection service. I called the number provided before 7 am this morning in hopes of leaving a message. “It just rang and rang.” But wait… there is light at the end of this tunnel…I just answered my phone and guess who it was! Yippee! “We will have someone out there today!” Now all I have to do is wait!

Techno-geek (number 2 son) along with my 19 year old camped out at the local AT&T store last night after arriving about 7:45PM. The funny thing about this was that mom…hehe…told them to take a couple of chairs because they may not be able to sit n the truck all night. “I would have been a great Boy-Scout!” Sooo…about midnight we, hubby and I, got a phone call saying 19 year old was coming home to get chairs while number 2 son sat at the door. It seems that while they were the first in line…like they have been for the past iPhone releases…there was a definite increasing presence of those with similar desires. As I am typing this post the store has opened and my son is probably holding the new iphone5 in his hot little hands. They will be home soon enough…Now all I have to do is wait!

No real cleaning to do…

Wait…can this be true?…

With only three people in the house for the most part yesterday and dinner for only three there was light clean up and wipe down…done! Before I went to bed! I even cleaned the disposal in the sink!

“Let me just say this is a concept I could get used to very quickly!”

I will gather the few items from my room, shortly, to add to the load of laundry ready to be started and change my sheets…but that is about all I will need to do. “What is a girl to do with all this time?” I know silly me…there is always something that needs to be done…Now all I have to do is wait!

Who knows…my money could show up today and I could add grocery shopping in later today. Until then I could tweak my grocery list by putting a “C” for coupon next to specific items. I started my monthly menu list yesterday and could go through the list making sure everything needed is on my grocery list. “There is the Boy-Scout thing again!” What? A mom is always prepared….right?

Well I should go get dressed and finalize preparations for the Critter Retrieval Swat Team! I may have time to fix another latte’ before they arrive. Would you like a cup? If so…how many shots? I would be happy to fix one for you….Have a great day!

Peach State says: Who You Gonna Call?

Carefully balancing the oversized latte’ cups and steamy bowl of oatmeal I am within steps of emptying my full arms when I heard them. A scraping commotion filled with knocks and movement not generally heard in my morning collection of sound effects. I froze and waited! Stealthily I proceed to isolate the area of concern. A louder scraping sound, like a belt buckle moving against the wall was heard. I quickly call my hubby, who was just waking up, to have him verify the unusual sounds. “Crap! We have a Varmit!” He looked at me and said…”Who You Gonna Call?

Varmit Control!
I have used them before for a similar invasion…a squirrel in the attic.

I just want to investigate a little more, once the boys get up, just in case the noises were coming from my son’s room. LOL!

Trying to save money at all times! Oh I am so good!

Just another interruption added to a day filled with extras.

Dentist appointment…
And the biggie…my 19 and 22 year old will be leaving tonight, right after dinner, to place themselves first in line to get the iPhone 5 in the morning. Oh the joy of having techno-geeks in the house!

Have a great day!
