Peach State says: What I Would Invent
Have you noticed the behavior and mentality surrounding this glorious season? I have and it is not pleasant.
There seem to be an overwhelming and alarming increase in the presence of Grinch-es. The Bah Humbug spirit has spread to all corners and shows no sign of letting up. If I can’t have this one expensive item, then no one will get anything from me. Why is it that the commercialization of the season seems to dictate this attitude causing inadequacy and failure to flood into the very nature of giving. Giving of yourself and your time used to be a mainstay in the community. Helping others was the best gift and coupon books with different chores were gifts parents really looked forward to.
It is for this reason that I would invent a Christmas Ray to infect everyone with the spirit of kindness and giving. People would help on another and not fight for their place in line. The only hustle and bustle occurring would be to lend a hand to strangers. What is wrong with this concept? Nothing is wrong with this concept! Those people that did not come in contact with the Christmas Ray first hand would be infected by secondary contact with those initially infected. This Christmas Spirit would be a life long feeling and not one that would fade away as soon as the presents under the tree are opened. The Gimme Gimme mentality would be replaced by the Giveyou mentality.
Why must we have to endure the season with the feeling of failure at not providing everything on the child’s Christmas list. And why can the children not appreciate the value of the items they received and not complain and whine about not having what they asked for or something better than their friends.
Don’t get me wrong….I love opening gifts and enjoy seeing what other picked out for me. I am always surprised! I want those that love me or care enough to give me a gift to actually think about me when choosing a gift. This means they have to pay attention to me and try to understand me. Wow…now that is another story for another time. HeHe.
Well….enough of my ranting for the moment. What would you invent?
